Re: RTW crash need help
Right-click the Rome Total War icon and set it "Run as Administrator" and "XP Compatible" and see if this helps.

Ye, the icon on the desktop. If you don't have an RTW icon on your desktop, it's not hard to put one there.
Yes, properties.
For an RTW ico, right-click the desktop, click New, click shortcut, and follow the Wizard. Find rome.exe in the steam\steam\steamapps\rome total war folder or close enough you can find it.

Re: RTW crash need help
Hi there.
When you have set RTW to run in XP compabilaty as admin, do this: (#3 )
1) Control panel --> System --> Advanced System Settings --> Advanced --> Performance--> Settings --> Data Execution Prevention.
2) Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
3) Select the check box next to the program.exe that you want to turn off DEP for, and then click OK.
If the program is not in the list, click Add. Browse your computer, find the exe file for ETW, and then click Open. Select the check box next to the program that you want to turn off DEP for, and then click OK.
That takes care of one of the most frequent reasons for crashes in battles.

Re: RTW crash need help
All these methods are complicated, all I did lad is go to my Steam/SteamApps (etc) and went to the RTW Directory, now, make a new folder (Doesn't matter what you name it) Drag all of the folders in your RTW directory into the new folder, re-install it. For some reason steam likes to just re-download the **** you had recently, but with the new folder it wont. Steam won't look inside the folder, even if you don't have it for steam i still recommend this, i think my method is the fastest. This **** has to be copyright because I'm the only one on every thread I've ever seen that knows this method.
