Default Playing Kionon Hellenon on H/H - few questions.

Ok so I'm playing the Kionon Hellenon on Hard/Hard. This is my first real attempt at an EB Campaign. My first were the Seleucids and Eperios. I just stopped playing the Seleucid one, and the Eperios one got a CTD because I was an idiot and didn't make more than one save. Anyways I'm quite green to the whole EB atmosphere.

Right away it seemed near impossible to stand up to Macedon, but I picked everyone up from all the ilses and grabbed all my generals into one army and went for broke and sold off the fleet and got mercs. I managed to beat a macedon stack narrowly with everyone taking refuge in Athens. Then i survived 2 or 3 sieges( cant remember) thanks to the spartan generals holding the walls and gates. I was utterly amazed at my luck with what seemed certain doom. Eventually Eperios tied the bastards up after that and I was able to take Korinth and Calasis( sp?) both narrowly. Then I sat and hunkered down and traded with everyone to build up the economy since I figured out how to defend stone walled cities with little to no men if they were of the right troops ie. Spartan generals.

Anyways I'm wondering if making cities in macedon( ie. Pella, Demitrius ) into Ally city governments will give me the option to recruit their phalanx armies etc. I'm too not what I'm doing. Right now I have both of those cities, one as an Ally and the other a type 2 and regardless of the old barracks I left I see nothing coming up. So I demolished them after reading the description. Should have I done that? Same goes for Eperios, I conquered them and their barracks were the same as mine so if I made one city an Ally polis could I get their elite phalanxes?

Also Athens is a type 2 government and I'm wondering if I changed it to a type 1 would it give me more troops or buildings, or is it worth it. Or would demolishing the type 2 get rid of some of the buildings I already have built, which is my biggest concern. It's just overwhelming to me and I dont want to screw my cities up and thought maybe if I ask on here some vets would know right away on how to help out this EB Noob lol.

    thnx

KH can only make use of their very own phalanx unit, that comes available after the march of time event (Romans build a huge city) Macedonian and Epeirote phalanxes are only recruitable by other Diadochi (expect their elite phalanxes, which they can only recruit themselves)

There's no higher level troops that you could recruit from Athens if you change the gov to lvl1.

You want 5 in Sparta for their Hoplites. Also want good ones on Rhodos, Krete, in the Crimea, Massalia and Syracuse where other special regionals are.

Although Spartan Hoplites aren't really that great compared to the other Greek Elites, the Epilektoi (which are available in multiple regions at Factional Barracks 4).
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

Oh this reminds me. At the first turns of my Koin Hellenon campaign i had the most fierce open battles with Makedonia.
Luckily i was able to snap many Heroic victories. Tough start that's for sure.

As scutarilegion first said, you should be able to get "Koinon Hellenon Phalanx" after the march of time event. But don't count too much on them.
You 're playing as Koinon Hellenon so better get these classic hoplites ready

Just make sure you build Type1 gov. wherever it's possible and build your barracks quickly in Demetrias (will get you some nice Thessalian Cav.), Sparta and Rhodes (rhodian slingers are among the best slingers in the game - if not the best).
Eliminate as soon as possible Makedonia and Epirus. Focus first on Makedonia by either offering a truce to Pyros or by just staying out of their way. In the beggining of the game you can't really afford to have war at all lines.
If you succeed in eliminating Makedonia (who propably have reached Byzantium untill that time) make sure you ally with Getia. Once you 're done with that establish your absolute dominion in Greece by crushing Epirus and get your economy running.
    After that...the choice is yours.
Either you 're going to head east and challenge the great Seleucids and the kingdom of Pontus or head west by building a large scale navy and land your full stacks at Sicily and Taras.

I've done a similar expansion in my Makedonian campaign. Took out Epiros and KH and had so much cash the game stopped being interesting. So in my KH campaign I will not destroy Makedonia or Epiros but instead spread across the Mediterranean and enlist the help of all those former Greek colonies. Only then I will take on my lovely neighbours.
