FBI: Georgia men talked of U.S. terror plan

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Two Atlanta-area men in federal custody as part of a terrorism probe discussed possible locations for a U.S. attack, including military bases and oil refineries, according court documents unsealed Friday.

The U.S. attorney's office in Atlanta on Thursday unsealed an indictment against Georgia Tech student Syed Ahmed, 21.

Ahmed was arrested last month in Atlanta and pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of material support for terrorism. (Watch as Ahmed's mother and sister say he's been wrongly accused -- 1:33)

Ahmed was denied bail. His attorney, Jack Martin, declined comment after hearing excerpts of the documents read.

Ehsanul Sadequee, 19, was arrested this week in Bangladesh and handed over to the FBI. He is expected to be arraigned in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, on a charge of making false statements during an interview with an FBI agent.

After reviewing the court documents, Sadequee's attorney, Shereef Akeel, said, "It is a very serious allegation. But it is out of character from the way this young man has lived his life."

Sadequee's sister Sharmin said Thursday night that her brother is not a terrorist and "we are very shocked and startled and hurt" by his arrest.

The two men, both U.S. citizens, knew each other through the Atlanta Muslim community, a Sadequee family member said.

An affidavit from FBI agent Michael Scherck says the duo traveled in March 2005 from Atlanta to Canada, where they met with three men who are the subject of an FBI international terrorism investigation.

Ahmed "explained that, during some of these meetings, he, Sadequee and the others discussed strategic locations in the United States suitable for a terrorist strike, to include oil refineries and military bases," the affidavit says.

"They also plotted how to disable the global positioning system in an effort to disrupt military and commercial communications and traffic."

The affidavit alleges the "assembled group developed a plan to receive military training at one of the several terrorist-sponsored training camps." It also says Ahmed traveled to Pakistan in an attempt to get such training.

The government says that Sadequee lied about the meetings when an FBI agent questioned him last year. He was traveling to Bangladesh to get married, according to his family.

At a news conference Thursday in Atlanta, U.S. Attorney David Nahmias said Ahmed was charged with providing material support for terrorism, not planning or carrying out terrorist acts.

FBI spokesman Richard Kolko said "no imminent threat" existed at any point during the investigation.

Court documents reveal the investigation included court-authorized wiretapping, recounting a conversation between Ahmed and Sadequee's sister.

The FBI affidavit also says agents found two CD-ROMs in the lining of Sadequee's suitcase when he was leaving the United States. One disc contained pornography and the other was encrypted with a code the FBI was unable to crack, according to the affidavit.

It also says Sadequee had maps of the Washington area with the discs.

The internet corrupted him. Jeez what a hypocrite, downloading gigs of porn while using religion as a justification for blowing people up. That's what gets me the most frustrated...they use religion simply as a tool. They are living no just life, they aren't humble, god-fearing or pious(not all muslims just the terrorists/extremists).

Funny though...

I can't believe we couldn't crack the disc, isn't there a manual way to do it or hire an expert?

Ah, the FBI, CIA and so on are famous for having outdated computer systems. Though I'm sure they'll get an upgrade at some point. Anyway, I saw a documentary about Khalid Sheik Mohammed (one of the men behind the 11th September attacks; I'm pretty sure that that was his name anyway), and apparently he and his companions had been to brothels and bars quite frequently in the run-up to the attack.

Makes sense to me.
People see religion as a means to an end (salvation) which is why it's so easily used by politicians and militans.

I mean: girls aren't a virgin for no reason, especially when they come from a culture where parents force them to marry at a young age.

With 72 virgins bets are that 64 are under the age of 13, and the rest is ugly as hell.
By blowing himself up this guy is going to miss out a lot of hot sex with supermodels (who are never virgins might I point out!).

God must have been laughing his ass off when he made that rule.
Give all the virgins to the fools who are stupid enough to blow themselves up, while passing the hot chicks around the smarter guys.
And just think that, while you are with the ugly virgins, somebody else is banging your wife (who you know isn't a virgin so you won't be seeing her afer death)

This is the ideology of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abu al-Zarqawi.....basically it says that they can violate any Muslim law in order to complete their jihad....like eat pork to blend in with Americans, go to bars, get drunk, do drugs, live a party life, kill as many other Muslims as they see fit, all to blend in or complete this little "mission"...of course, many of them enjoy this immensely, feeling like little gods who can do everything to fulfill their holy jihad.....so thats why many say "how shocking, he wasn't a strict Islamist" and all that.....nothing like gorging yourself on sex, proscribed foods, and drugs, then self-righteously slaughtering innocents..... <Please don't bypass the censor> hypocritic scum....

Virgins aren't going to be better looking in heaven then they are on earth, they are the same people.
I've been with several realy hot girls in my life, and they all had a lot more sexual partners than I had, even when they were younger (I'm not that good looking you see

I'm pretty sure most good looking girls loose their virginity at a pretty young age.

Not true, I know many good looking girls who held out much longer than others....its the ugly ones who'll give it away early, as one of their few bargaining chips....sorry to be crude, but thats the dynamic among the girls where I grew up....unless a hot girl has self-esteem issues or something, in which case she might lose her virginity early.....all that porn probably got him excited as to what he could expect in paradise.... <Inappropriate language removed>.

Here's a better question: who said logic applies?
If allah is all powerful, can't he make some hot virgins for his warriors?
Anyway, let's start a discussion on what you would do with your virgins.
I'd make 66 of them into 6 soccer teams and use the other 6 as refferees.

lets see, 2 of them would be sex slaves (dont lie and say you wouldnt) another two would be maids/servants ya know clean my shoes make me dinner that kind of stuff. 8 of them would be trained to be the greatest engineers scientists whatever to ever exist and would create the most powerful body armor ever, that wouldnt be created until the year 900000000006 on earth. the other 60 would also become great engineers but they would build an island fortress with computer controlled laser turrents and cannons that fired tactical nukes, all with a range of 100,00,00,00,000,000,000 kilometers. The lasers could shootdown any missles cannon shells and other things of harm instantly. The tactical nukes fired from the cannons could be controlled to be just as powerful as a bullet or.. a tactical nuke. It will fire in full auto. I will then have them create a device that could instantly create all my weapons and ammo.Maybe, MAYBE a cloning device that could make me an army of super soldiers, but that would seem too cheap. After everything is built i would have my women (except for my 4 slaves) trained in any and all froms of combat.

After everything is created i will wage war and conquer heaven.

On the topic, why was porn hidden in the lining of the suitcase? Unless his family planned on going through it first i don't see why he couldnt jsut slip it in a pocket on the thing, maybe slip it out for an inflight movie
