Boring Roman armies

I'm playing as the Casse and have been tangling over modern day France with the Romans for some time. At first they had interesting armies - gallic and greek auxiliries mixed in with hastati and roman slingers, and maybe some cavalry here and there.

Maybe five years later and most of those stacks having been destroyed or depleted, and all the new Roman armies are nothing but pedites extraaordinarii and super super elite roman Infantry. There's no diversity and no fun in fighting them. I just have to spam loads and loads of Celtic axemen and go like that.

Any way to force them into hiring more diverse armies?

sometimes, you must give more credits for the AI, if you spam high-armoured troops yourself, or punishing them very far, they'll train better quality troops as the response. It's a bit noticeable when you fighting AS as Pahlava or Saka (or Baktria), their first wave troops is often mediocre, but once you get winning streaks, just prepare to meet Argyraspidai spam (if the AS not lost asia minor and antioch yet)
