..not shown in many places, I bet most american people haven't even heard about it.

It's a turkish action movie and yet it stirring up some crap all over the place, since it is about the Iraqi war. The movie features some american actors as well (Billy Zane, Gary Busey), the problem is that it puts the coalition (is it still coalition??) army into a bad light.

A record breaker on Turkish TV for three seasons and now a phenomenon, “Valley of the Wolves” is now preparing to shake the world with the movie…

The story begins with a true story: “The Hood Event”… On 2003, the 4th of July, allied American forces come to the unofficial, half-secret Turkish headquarters consisting of eleven people. The Turkish soldiers suppose that this an ordinary visit from their allies. But this time it is different. In the changing conjuncture, America wants to be the only power “calling the shots”. To them, there is no place for Turks in the region any more…

That day, eleven soldiers are deported with hoods on their heads with no respect to their soldiership dignity and in front of the region’s people…
    watch the trailer here too:

I find it funny, how Hollywood gets away with any kind of BS and yet other movies (movies are free speech) are pushed out. Even in europe, many countries will not show this movie.

Eh. I wish they had chosen to depict the insurgency in a romanticized light, but not so heavily demonized the Coalition. Then I'd be eager as a beaver to see it.

Either way, Russki's comment is pretty nifty. Turkey does seem like a better place than other countires of the region (recently heard that they stopped themselves from persecuting a favored turkish author who didn't try to deny the armenian holocaust, and that's a step ahead of the Holocaust-denying Iranians). They have as much a right of this as we do in depicting flight 93, or some war in iraq movie.

These guy's need to start producing movies of the Muslims during the crusades, and the Persian's during the Roman Empire.

I see it as a Rambo Movie..
you know after you walk out the cinema..
you see those little turkish boys with uber hormones, a little moustache, feeling the "pride" of being turkish, riding their tuned BMW's afterwards. etc etc.. This kind of action movies and soaps are really popular now in turkey. And oh my god, even in Turkish news broadcasts, one of the items consistly is "what happens tonight in soap X"... bla bla.. If someone thought that Fox news was bad. go watch turkish news in general. its about "ahmed lynched ali bombali", "hot model visits animal farm".. volence and showbizz... and sometimes even video clips of funny home made videos.

It has a nice effect though.. The characters in the soaps and movies have a carte blanche.. and so many people take over that "godfather attitude". Meh, it must be in our blood anyway. Just look at soccer. Instead of chasing the ball we generally chase the referee and nag to him.

you cant deny that the last years, the "down with the US" attitude has spread amongst the turkish population. Movies like this, free speech or not, not only reflect it. But also might increase that "hatred". Which is not so grave yet, compared to other muslim nations. However events like the "lets bring those turkish chaps to our KKK Party", should really be minimized. And besides what did they expect anyway: "hey it is the US forces knocking on our doors., lets make some tea and let us play some bridge".

nonetheless this movie really is mostly made because of the $$$$ potential, as with many other blockbusters. Exploiting the charactheristic of the turkish man. No, not his hairy body, or bad performance in bed. But the pride..

Let the Turkish Rambo have his fun..and kill some US soldiers
meanwhile US and European companies are buying most of our nation anyway.

whether movie is good or bad..
it remains a movie... and far more important issues will determine the course of how majority of Turkish population will think of the US in the future.
