    Default Looking to 2008

Who do you guys want to see run for president on 2008 on either side? What would be you dream team?

As a democrat I would love to see Mark Warner who is former governor of virginia and was extremely popular for his ability to work with the republican dominated legislator in that state.

Id also like to see Joe Biden run as well, but I think he would make a great VP nom. He has great experience in foreign relations and has been in the Senate for something like 30 years. He would really do good at balancing a ticket with Warner and his relative inexperience.

Wes clark would be great as well in either spot.

As for Hillary.........................if she runs im re-registering as an independant. She may be a fund raising machine, but she has virtually no cross-party appeal. Shes also the ultimate panderer from what ive seen. She would probably do well in the primaries but would not win the general.

Trying to not think as a democrat, I think Mccain would be best for the republican side. His only problem would be trying to get past the primaries. He would do great in the general though. To actually motivate the religious right of the republican party to come out and vote I think he would but someone more to the right in the VP spot, like George Allen or Frist.

I think it would be insane if Mark Warner and George Allen went head to head. They are both extremely popular and from the same state. It would be fun to watch.

I'd like for Giuliani to run, he seems like a good central-sort of individual, but perhaps the presidency would force him to the left or to the right.

Might vote for Mccain. Not sure aobut it.

I should switch to the left but quite frankly they haven't offered anything decent. I'd like a no name canidate whose got some fresh blood that isn't impotent.

    Hillary equals me voting republican.

My dream would be a Giuliani/ Mccain ticket, but that probably won't happen. Feingold would be alright too.

Although I already stated my preference for a Farnan/Last Roman ticket in another thread, I'm afraid that Hillary will get this one. After all it's a family thing...

Not a king per se but:

Luxembourg has a parliamentary form of government with a constitutional monarchy by inheritance. Under the constitution of 1868, executive power is exercised by the Grand Duke or Grand Duchess and the cabinet, which consists of a prime minister and several other ministers. The Grand Duke has the power to dissolve parliament and reinstate a new one.

Legislative power is vested in the Chamber of Deputies, directly elected to 5-year terms. A second body, the "Conseil d'État" (Council of State), composed of 21 ordinary citizens appointed by the Grand Duke, advises the Chamber of Deputies in the drafting of legislation

    Anybody but Hilary Clinton.

and a moderate republican would hardly get elected. The democrats wouldn't vote for him because they have their own canidate and the more hard line republicans wouldn't vote because he isn't conservative enough.

    I doubt that.

For the Repubs, McCain would crush all Dem. contenders. I want him or Guiliani to get the nomination.

Hillary would lose, Kerry would lose, Dean would lose, Obama would lose....dunno who else would even get the nomination for the Dems.

My guess is that a relative outsider will win the election. Congressional corruption and disatisfaction with Bush will lead the public to select a Carter-type.

Agreed one thing we forget that despite the low approval ratings of the President, of republicans in general the democrats arent exactly any better. The democrats are running 2006 election (and thus far 2008) as they will win simply by default, anytime you run like that you are going to get bit in the ass by low turn out because people dont want to vote FOR anyone.

Right now everyone pretty much assumes Mccain vs Hillary in 2008 based on the simple fact they are biggest names, biggest capability of raising funds etc but it ignores American Presidental Election Rule #1, sitting senators/congressmembers dont win the White House, Governors do (talking recent history and obviously ex or former ones can and do). Ill go out a limb here the winner of 2008 Presidental election will be....Newt Gingrich!

    Or son Kelsey?
    Or Cassius, for that matter...

I'd like to see McCain as the VP, but I don't know who should be Pres. I think McCain would be great as either, but even better when the spotlight isn't always focused directly on him--he doesn't come off to me as a politician, but rather as a statesman. I think the President will have to be a politician, but of course, the ideal government would be all statesmen--and the world just doesn't work that way.

And then Hillary, ugh. Looking at her history with the medical world... it just boggles my mind how she wasn't just slapped every time she stepped out in public.

McCain is too old for VP imo, he wont bother with it I dont think it will be either President or bust. Remember McCain will be 72 in 2008 so its pretty much his last shot. And Hillary has the name nothing more, she has done very little for us New Yorkers as our senator, I dont like him but our other senator Chuck Schumer is 10x the senator Hillary has been. All she has is her last name, nothing more and thats why she is there.
