Fortuna Orbis Beta is released!
Nice site, although I'm kinda surprised they use the incorrect term "chain mail" instead of mail......that's the sort of inaccuracy that bugs me.
Sorry to burst any bubbles, but after looking at the "Greek" and "Roman" sections of that site, I pretty much got a refresher on every item listed in reenactment sites as "What not to get."
Everything in those categories is very inaccurate, as sadly most mass-produced gear is.

Would you spend such amounts of money for that, though?![]()

Seems pretty expensive for that purpose, though. You could make very accurate looking gear out of cheaper materials for far less than what they have all that listed for, i.e. cardboard and tape Tube & Yoke, aluminum Segmentata, shiny loose-weave cloth mail, cotton tunics/khitoniskoi made in the right shape, etc. And if you really want the proper materials, for a lot of those things it's actually cheaper or very close to the same cost to make it yourself accurately (or get it from someone who knows what they're doing historically.) For example, you can get enough good wool or linen to make your own tunic or khiton with very little sewing for the same cost as getting one of those... Cotton-tunic-shirt-things.
It just seems a shame to spend hundreds on something that looks very little like it was (not to mention that the quality of construction is often not great).
Edit: Maurits ninja'd my point on the price.![]()

its mostly Windlass Steelcraft stuff (mid-low quality reproductions). pretty much all of their Roman pics are stolen from the Museum Replicas site/catalog
