Default A U.S. War With China May Be Inevitable.

The main reason for the war outbreak is economic, then the nations try to find arguments that are accepted by public opinion to justify these wars.
The rush to withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan is justified by the attempt to come to strengthen U.S. power in the Far East, the South China Sea, which will be the focus and the beginning of a new and major world conflict.
And something must be done to lift Europe and the United States economy and down the Chinese one.

I don' see how it's inevitable. I admit my knowledge on the matter isn't that great, but I simply cannot see what either the US or China would gain from this at all.

Meh. The Fallout World always seemed cooler than the gay one we have.

Nothing in this life is inevitable, except death and taxes.

It's in neither country's interest to go to war, since if such a conflicts starts, the chances are it would escalate to large scale destruction of population centres and economic hubs, as well as draw in other participants.

Unless the Chinese used their WMD's the large scale destruction would be pretty one sided against the Chinese

It is stupid but who is to say it wouldnt be the Chinese who would be the stupid ones. History is full of rising powers overreaching.

In terms of political will, the Chinese are at a minimum equal to the American one; if the Chinese suspected that it would come to a showdown, they would probably concede a few diplomatic points while they built up a strategic force. Modern warfare won't just be a nuke exchange, the Chinese will pre-empt by trying to crash every server in the continental United States, create as much chaos as possible in the financial, military, transportation and energy networks, just before they launch.

Lol now it reminds me of that silly "Why there is no US-China conflict" thread.

Nuclear war is never a possibility, nuclear weapons are a status symbol and a safeguard, not a practical military armament.

In the modern day where our ability to kill enemy forces en-masse is unparalleled in our past, conflict between equally-matched powers and superpowers such as the US and China is impossible. The two would wipe one another out before either wins the war.

Large-scale conflict on such an equal footing (no I'm not interested in "'merica is the shizz!" arguments) is simply no longer a possibility. As you said, the potential for modern conflict between states is primarily economic. Neither the US nor China would gain economically from such a war, both would loose far too much even in winning. Any war between major powers now would be pyrrhic.

However the potential for asymmetric wars and proxy-wars continues to increase as the threat to the major powers with increasing military capabilities decreases. I have no doubt that the US wishes to curtail increasing Chinese influence and vice-versa, but never by direct conflict. Intervention by military movements in the pacific is a symbolic gesture, showing the US still has influence in the region, not a directly confrontational one.

People always say the same things before wars. "It will never happen because of x and y!"

Protip: Humanity doesn't always act in a perfectly logical and predictable manner

But overall yes, China and the US probably won't go to war within a few decades, but its 50/50 within the cenutry imo. If the US finishes its national missile defense and becomes less reliant on China for business it could become much more likely.

China and the US are already at war with each other. However, it's not happening on the battlefield, it's happening through cyberspace.
