Does anyone think this movie is any good, or will be any good? I am still debating on whether to go see it or not.

Early press was cautiously optimistic, but now that it's out the critics have given it universally poor ratings.
I am not sure. The trailers make it look ok, but it might become another failed video game-movie mix. I just remember how much I used to play the first Silent Hill. I think it is funny because in the game the guy who lost his daughter was Harry Mason, but they apperantly replaced him with a girl. I am not sure if I can see past this change.... I always remember the name Harry Mason and his signature line, "Have you seen a little girl?". Nobody ever said yes.
Truth is subjective.
I saw it. Want to know what my post-movie theme is?
Well i have had 5 beers and im off to the tavern soon. Hopefully to forget it.
Yes or no? out of 5 stars what do you give it?Originally Posted by brokenfingers

Now that I look more closely I see that. Is it really that bad though?
From what I've heard the movie is very pretty, but it is a chore to sit through.
I liked it, strait 4 out of 5. A nice breath of fresh air, not the same damn thing that you see in every other horror film. I am a fan of the games so i might be giving it a little bit of a tilt. I would suggest seeing it, its a hit or miss.
Agreed, now that I have seen it, I can say that it was actually pretty good. Maybe this is because I played the first Silent Hill a little too much though.Originally Posted by Zacheria

I saw it yesterday and it was all right, maybe a 4 out of 5. I liked it even though I haven't played the games too much.
I drank myself into a stupor after seeing that movie.
It was that bad
I think the movie was good. I saw it Saturday and the game was different than the movie, or so I was told, but it was gory and I thought that it was pretty good like I said
When you pull the pin on Mr. grenade, you throw it and RRRRRRRUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!
The horror bits were horrific. Sean Beans accent was attrocious but his acting was reasonable. The dialogue was weak and story fairly well done though lacking in substance.
I'd give it a 6 or 7/10 for the sheer horror factor that makes up for the hideous dialogue in the church.

I've been waiting quite a whilte for this film. I give this a 3.5/5 at best. The writer should never call himself a writer after this, but the directing was very good. This is what Uwe Boll should be doing at least. If compared with other 'videogame inspired movies' Silent Hill is arguably the best made (Resident Evil was the previous best... and maybe Mortal Kombat, though that one was just...).
Anyway, the actual horror aspect was good. It more or less followed the SH norm by scaring you through slow buildup of creepiness and anxiety rather than sheer surprise effect like other horror movie/games. The first half seemed alright, but the second half... they kept repeating the story over and over until it just lost whatever merit it orginally had.
Also, while watching the movie a second time (yes, a second time. I was escort to different groups at different times (read: females)) someone stood up in the back as soon as Sean Bean appeared on screen and shouted, "SOUND THE HORN OF GONDOR!" Funny stuff. Afterwards, I rummaged through the internets and discovered the beginnings of a small meme that had potential. Five minutes of photoshop later, I came up with this:
Silent Hill! There is evil there that does not sleep!
Ha, that is pretty good. I went to the movie with my friends and we talked so much that everyone around us moved as far away as possible. Anyway, I agree, a 3.5/5 is good.Originally Posted by Sher Khan
