    Default Unknown CTD

    Hello to all you modding brainiacs

    I am having a CTD right before the next turn starts(e.g. right before the slave faction turn.) I have looked through the error log but I cannot find anything that is obvious. I post the error log here in hoping that one of you can find something that I can fix. If not, then I guess it is a once in a while CTD

    Nvm, I cannot post the error log as it is too long. I'll attach it.

    Well, the only reported error (other than the unspecified one at the time of the crash) is:


    01:05:13.024 [script.err] [error] Script Error in mods/Third_Age/data/descr_missions.txt, at line 1471, column 1
    No or invalid resource type specified
    Though that seems to be reported well in advance of the problem. Is this a mission you added? It might be that a non-player faction is getting it and crashes because it cannot be resolved.

    No I have not added any missions. I will look at the campaignnscript to see if there aree any correlating turn numbers.

    If the crash is happening during a turn, turn the fow off, you'll then see where it crashes and post another log.

    Also note if a) if keeps happening on the same turn, and b) does it happen during the same faction's turn?

    Is it repeatable or not? I guess not since you say 'once in a while'.

    That being the case I would suspect some kind of conflict at the start of the player's turn. Remove every factionturnstart factionislocal script and see if you still have problems.

    I have the the same CTD, always at the end of the 2nd turn. When its about to jump back to my own faction, beginning of the 3rd turn.

    After removing all but the core buildings in the campaign_strat the crash didn't occur again, not sure what the issue is do.

    Are there any scripts in your data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign/campaign_script that trigger at the start of that turn? If so, try removing/deactivating them and see if the problem persists.

    Wow lots of responses lol, I will try that dannyxx and see what happens.

    @ AJStoner
    I have never had this problem before as I have played a couple campaigns with other factions and never happened. I checked the campaign_script and there were a couple commands that fire during that timezone but they should have nothing to do with the problem because they are unrelated to the faction that is crashing and the script looked fine.

    @ Taiji
    I know it does not repeat with other games I have played, I'm guessing it is just a snowball of unlucky events that sometimes cause these things. :/

    I figured out what the problem was in my issue. I had a building in which the recruitment of a unit required the presence of an other building. (requires building_present_min_level barracks town_guard). When you clicked on the building in the campaign map it CTDed. This didn't didn't cause the earlier building in the buildtree to crash. But i added the erronous level to the campaign_strat. So check for any changed buildings in the strat, you can also check in game by clicking on the images of the building to bring up the info.
