crossing river in battlemap

I can't really remember but are you supposrd to be able to cross a river durig battle, no not swim (or can you do that too) but just wade across in certian spots. I could not get my units across last night in an attack.

if you are the battlemap with a river then yes, there should be a ford (or 2) or a bridge. I seem to remember there was an old RTW bug where you could get river maps with no crossings but I thought it had gone away.

The easy way to find the crossing is to take your cavalry and double-click on the other side of the river, they will then move to where the ford is (even easier is to get the AI to attack you, it will then line up opposite the ford)

What you are looking for (and I agree, sometimes it is hard to find) is a slight grey colour in the river with two brown patches on the riverbanks.

Yeah I already tried that and the equites run immediately to the bridge. There are place where it looks like a unit can enter and cross (light brown patches on both sides of the river) but they do not.

Mercja,sometimes its easier to see the fords on the little tactical map,first,and then find them on the main battle map when you know "about" where to look.

hang on, there's a bridge?

you can only cross at a bridge or a ford, this isn't BI, you can't swim across. If there is a bridge there may not be a ford as well, some maps only have one crossing

Ok problem solved then, thanks guys. I it just difficult sometimes to initiate an attack when you have to sent your entire legion acreoos the bridge, next time I will let them come to me!
