Game requires kingdoms disc, but I purchased a download off the internet

Hello,

I am a new member of this forum but I have followed it for some time now. As I was unable to solve this problem on my own, I decided to ask the experts.

The past few DAYS I have been attempting to download everything I need to play Stainless Steel. I lost my original Kingdoms download, so I found another on the internet. I get everything patched and install 6.3, then 6.4. Finally, when I click the shortcut to start SS, I am met with a disturbing message:

Wrong disc inserted.
Please insert the original "Kingdoms" CD/DVD


This is impossible, as I downloaded Kingdoms from the internet. I discovered that none of the Kingdom's files work either. The campaigns for the Americas, Crusades, etc, all give me the same message.


What can I do?

When you say downloaded off the internet, do you mean a legal downloaded copy you've purchased or illegal?

Originally I purchased it, but the files were lost, so I felt justified in torrenting an illegal copy rather than paying twice. My suspicion is that this caused the problem.
