Default New post, old topic (possibly) about unit cost formula.

    Hello fellow generals and warlords,

Does any of you know the precise formula -if any- that calculates the pricing of units in EB?
I've been playing the game for some time and I 've been trying to modify some of it's stats most of that time but I've always been frustrated about the costs of the units. I wouldn't want to break the balance of it, not to hard for the AI nor too eay for me. I believe the formula would help me with that.

By the way, do you guys think that the cost of units in EB rises disproportionately with quality?

Looking forward to reading some replies, thanks in advance.

It does. Easiest way to see is to compare Praetorians with standard Imperial Legionaries. It's been said before that elites are overpriced bling-factors, because less "elite" units frequently do just as good a job in the majority of cases, for much less. It represents, among other things, the rarity of the unit, the job of the unit, and the actual equipment of the unit. For example, the Praetorians cost so much not because they were super-soldiers, but because they were the Imperial Bodyguard; Dosidataskeli cost so much because getting that much metal, that well-done, is hard, particularly for a group like the Lusotannans; Germanic Heavy Infantry cost twice what other Germanic infantry cost mainly because they're actually wearing a decent amount of armour.

Praetorians have +1 Attacks, +4 Armour and +2 Skill, +1 Morale, +.02 Mass, 10 fewer base Men, and cost twice as much. The Dosidataskeli can beat both units individually, but it has a lot more trouble with equal cost in units, since it costs more than the Praetorians do.
Iberi Curisi have 10 lower Charge and half the Armour (8 vs 16) compared to Iberi Lanceari, but you're almost never going to run into a situation where the Lanceari are really going to be worth the extra cash you're sinking into them relative to what they're accomplishing. Curisi also don't tire as quickly, meaning you actually get more use from them, since you can charge more frequently.

Of course, not all factions have this problem. For example, the Sweboz. Your "base" unit is the Dugundiz - 17 Total Defense (mostly Skill), 15 Melee Attack, 308 Upkeep. Next up is the Swordsman, with 21 Total Defense, 11 Melee Attack, and 412 Upkeep. (Note, the Dugundiz has a Spear, and the Swordsman has a much higher Lethality, so the Attack values are supposed to be equivalent.) For Elite units, the Sweboz have two: the Naked Fanatics and the Heavy Infantry. Germanic NFs are 18 Total Defense (almost all Skill), 18 Melee Attack, Fear-inducing Spearmen for 628. The Germanic Heavy Infantry packs a whopping 25 Total Defense, has two Melee weapons (Sword @ 14, Spear @ 19), and costs 707 in Upkeep. Germanic Heavy Infantry do make up for costing twice what Dugundiz/Swordsmen do, while Praetorians do not.

No clue. You'd probably have to get one of the team members to answer that, though someone who's been around for a while might know it or where to find it.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

Thanks Entropy Judge, I am still waiting for the hero of my enlightenment regarding the formula.
I am guessing there would be some sort of exponential progress involved.
    Thanks in advance.
