It is close, just hang in for a little longer. It will be well worth the wait.

    Hey there!

Due to certain issues, I am not at liberty (my family has been taken hostage) to inform you exactly what we are doing right now, but let me just say that the only thing that is happening now is the final polishing, and review of certain choices I'm sorry but in the words of an amusing, yet obscure Scottish stereotye: I CANNAE SAY MOAR.

Now let me just say that I understand completely where you are coming from, and all of your frustration! A few months ago, I myself was just a forum member checking on this mod, awaiting the release, and then I always got my hopes up when I heard "the release is coming". Then I decided to chip in, and ever since I've had the pleasure of working alongside modding gods if you will, who have graciously taken the time to teach me the ropes! (Yes I'm looking at you Ross & Resurrection!)

The only reason thus far the release has not happened is the shear ammount of work. We are a handful of dedicated individuals who sacrifice alot of time on the "altar" if you will, of moving the mod towards release, and believe me when I say all of us are working around the clock to hand over this gigantic mod to the community!

I'm afraid I cannot say more but take my word when I say: soon.
But when is soon? As I said, polish & review, and if needed adding new bits here and there but we truly are finally in the last days, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

So let me promise to you that the mod will be definately finished before 2040! Jokes aside, believe me when I say we are making great progress!

That being said, let me refer you to a few of our "call to arms" threads!

I've taken the liberty of inspecting your profile, and (please do correct me if I am wrong) it says you are Georgian:

Perhaps you could help us out with the map review when we reach Georgia?
    Here's the thread: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=537427

Or perhaps you have a near lexical knowledge (or you know how to use Wikipedia?) on artifacts, and important people in the middle-ages? Then perhaps Ross might have your cup of tea:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=478980

Now Michael & Azim correct me if I am wrong, but we still might need a scripting assistant!
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=521113

If any of these suit your skills, we await all who would fight alongside us in this great undertaking!

Oh and please excuse all DotS members if we sound agitated. We haven't slept since mod development began....

    Cheers,
    Diodredai

It's a huge work, and the team members work in their freetime for you . So please don't be unpatient. We work a lot with this mod, and I can say that the beta testing is coming soon, but we can't do this because of bad and unnecessary things like real life, studies, etc.
Most of the last five years was spent with researching (towns, units, ancilliaries, etc.). The coder guy made lots of breakthrought in modding, new modding tools, and exellent scripts. You can belive, it's not 2 hours to make these. If you want to help, send a PM to Hross or Res, because they are too busy to pay attention for this topic.
A mode is done when it's done. I know that it's boring to read, but most people don't understand this. We can't set a date, because we don't know how much time will we have during the next week or month?
Don't be disappointed, because the mod is approachin release. But there isn't a date!
You should rather give thanks for the team and not bother them.
A professinal team makes a game in five years. DotS is a new game (the size of the mod folder shows this - 8 Gb), and it's made by an "amateur" team, in their freetime. So fibishing it in 5 years is a good speed!

I fully understand that people have a real life and all that, but when you start a thread like "Release: Hammer & Anvil: Coming Soon" then you should expect some impatient people.

Considering the thread is many months old, you'd expect them to get over it, too.

you can check it every hour, it wont take any faster. In my opinion the release will be not fast, year or two, not faster.

Speaking as someone who's a sort of "semi-detached" member of the DOTS team, they're quite close now. There are just a number of small, fiddly tasks to get through first. Things like adding PSFs to areas that are lacking, and populating cities and provinces with buildings and garrisons. I'm sure a full time DOTS member will be able to add a bit more precision to my statement.

As a full-time DotS member I can say that the beta-testing haven't started yet. There are some problems and missings wich we have to correct before the mod will be playable.
