Roman game, on H/H just after marian reforms. I had a nifty 5 star general with a fresh post-marian legion ready. General was 25 years old with proper retinue for invading Macedonia. So I send him off, takes on a 3000 strong Macedonian army and destroys it with few casualties. General gains a command star after this. End of turn, check my family report, he gets assassinated. That sucked, royally. I got a legion stranded in the middle of nowhere with no leader and a few full stacks heading towards it, so I retreat the legion and stick it in a fort. Then I get a comming of age report, 16 year old with 3 command stars, +2 morale bonus and +2 health bonus. Sweet new faction member, I go retinue crazy on him and he goes to 7 command stars and 3 morale bonus. I send him off to meet up with the other legion, with some mercenaries to escort him in case he runs into trouble. 17 year old general reaches his legion, I set off to attack a Macedonian town, gets attacked by a full stack army and beats it off. Next turn, assassinated. That'll teach me to forget to support my generals with the proper agents![]()
