    Default Recruitment "Refresh", a necessity?

So, I figured I'll post here since I'm playing Stainless Steel these days. Units take x amount of turns to "refresh" and when you can recruit new ones. Is there any way to tweak those numbers, or remove it entirely?

Yes in export_descr_buildings.txt. Every unit has recruitment entries such as:

    Code:
            recruit_pool "Peasants" 1 0.84 6 0 requires factions { portugal, } and event_counter FULL_PLATE_ARMOR 1
Change the highlighted number to 1 to remove the waiting. There are a lot of entries though. Plus you will likely unbalance the entire game as you'll have hordes of elite units everywhere.

Aha, yea, I hadn't thought of that. Only reason I asked was that it makes a rather dull early game, taking quite some time to even raise an army of militia.

Yeah but it makes you value your armies more. Knowing you can't just instantly replace lost troops makes you weigh up your strategic options a lot more

True. And You actually HAVE TO use lesser units since you have to wait for the best ones to replenish.

And when you painstakingly succed in raising a "best of the best" army, you're REALLY happy.

I like it. Makes the game more realistic.

Well, what sucks it's that battles in SS are very bloody, you'll always lose at least 20% of your army... even if everything plays out perfectly for you, because most enemy units fight until they have lost like 60% -70% men. Units should have lower morale IMO

Easy to trigger that. Battle difficulty level influences precisely that, and only that. If you find that VH is to high, try H or M.

Dont take this peronal but in my opinion you are completly wrong
Early Era is too easy! There is no point in loosing militias as they replenish very fast!
Proffesional troops are like Superman/Batman! Compared with the enemies´s troops ( who builds crap only ) you always are superior! You do not need to "cheat"!
Winning a battle with 20% death is not bad! If it is too hard for you lower the difficulty...
