    Hi Guys,

    I used geomod and bare_geomod folder to do the mapping and after an exhaustive 4 days of intense mapping I developed a complete map expanding america and africa..and added regions and resources,features...the debugger doesnt find any error and so the log.

    The game seens to be loading then it crashes and give me this error:

    [script.err] [error] Script Error in mods/Bare_Geomod/data/world/maps/base/descr_regions.txt, at line 1007, column 5 can't setup slave faction as the default faction for this region, (england)

    * lines and column refer to the regions and set to the minor factions.

    To test the error, I changed in geomod one of the regions and made it held by Portugal. Started again the game and crashed again BUT in the log file I didnt have an error on the line/region I set to Portugal.

    Would you have an idea of what may be causing this error? After the intense days of mapping I am hungry to play!

    I think I responded in your mail.

    You cannot have the slave faction as the 'creator' or 'loyalty' faction. But that is usually not fatal as it gets replaced by the first faction in the descr_sm_faciton which is usually England.

    Correct the error accordingly and then compress and attach the log here if it still crashes.

    Hi Gigantus, Thank u for the help!

    I actually got it working now..my map and regions work now, only problem is that when I playing the map I edited seens to be over the vanilla one.

    I followed steps in the tutorials, renamed the rhm file and corrected in geomod the heights and pixels..and in the tga files it shows regions as i did but water surface is still like the vanilla.

    Could you hep me on that?

    Also, I have a txt file with new names and Im wondering if I can just put in in data and the new names will be generated from that file or i need to change the bin files also?

    It has been a tiring process but at the end it will be a nice worls and I may put it available here too.

    I saw in one of the tutorials smt about the layers using GIMP. Is that the way?

    Im thinking if I could open that tga water surface file overlayed with the heights file and edit it. Would that work?

    Hi,

    Just wanna show the result of my map using the bare_mod folder.

    After a while I will work on a map with the right dimensions this was a my first mapping project so as soon as I get some days of normal life i will be back to moding

    Anyways, thank you for all the tutorials and the time u dedicated to all noobs like me!

    Now, Im getting to edit the settlements and characters and I still doubt abt the name files, so if you could assist on that it would be great.

    The water_surface TGA is made by resizing the map_heights TGA to 256*256 and then coloring it to your liking. For the change to take effect you need to delete map.rwm
    The string.bin files generate automatically if the txt file is 'newer' and formatted properly.

    Most of the basic modding of maps are covered by one or the other tutorial of mine. Simply click that 'Creating a World' short cut in my signature to get the list.

    • Are you using RGB value 0,0,0 in your map_heights?

    I sent you some PM but when I check my sent items it shows (0) and I cant see the messages or any repply from u*, so Im sorry if im duplicating the message. But I validated every region again, edited the Milan province . and I keep getting the same error.

    Do you think it may be related to the text files or to the tga files?

    Im really lost now, worked 2 weeks on that I now I cant play or continuing with the modding

    Keep to this thread, I am subscribed to it and will see if new messages have been posted. sometimes my inbox is a bit swamped and I might put some messages on the 'back-burner'.
    I have removed your previous upload form my hard drive. So just compress and attach the whole mod folder here again, now that you have updated..

    Hey. here is my folder again.

    I edited another map..but just adding to the normal map and it worked but the folder doesnt work.

    I would also like to ask you if I could get for example the units/skins from R&P mod and add to the baremod, if its possible(simple)..What could be the process?

    Oh ignore the milan province, coz I aready validated it, but i guess I didnt save in this attachment.
