The Marriage of Prinzessin Katherina, daughter of König Johannes II von Köln, to Philip of Burgundy, son of Duke Hugh III of Bugundy and nephew of King Philip VI of Valois.
On a sunny blissful day of summer, Chartres Cathedral was bustling with entourages and influential men and woman from across the known world for the joining of hands between a couple which would cement a lasting alliance between two similar christian nations. King Phillip VI had spent a great sum of currency on preparing a grand and festive occasion to display the refined culture of Valois and its vast assets it has. Various sculptures had been created in a very short period of time, displayed around the cathedral to emphasize how devoted Valois was to God and the christian faith. The Cardinal of Valois had been summoned to witness the vows of the young couple, it was to be a grand occasion to remember. King Phillip himself made a great effort to talk to as many guests as possible whilst the final touches were being made for the ceremony.
All foreign dignitaries, diplomats and royalty were invited to witness the exchange of vows and were given the full hospitality that Valois could provide.
