Graphics Card Recommendation
My old nVidia GeForce 4 MX420 died on me last week, and I was in a desperate situation. My mobo's integrated graphics couldn't handle RTW (S3 Unichrome), so I needed something fast, to avoid RTW-BI withdrawal.
After searching the forum, I found alot of conflicting information concerning the GeForce 6200, but since I was fine with my old GF4, I thought the GF 6200 would be a big improvement at $49 US after $15 rebate (www.tigerdirect.com).
My current rig (built by me, as my wife Christmas present to me
)
Celeron D 3.2 ghz
1gb PC3200 RAM
XFX GeForce 6200 256mb
160gb hard drive (2x80gb 7200rpm)
Windows XP Media Center Edition
After installing the GF6200, RTW set everything to HIGH on autodetect.
I am playing with all settings on high, huge units, low anti-aliasing, battle resolution 1024x768x32, and campaign map res 1024x768x32.
[EDIT] I just fought a 13,000 man battle this morning, and It runs perfectly!
One warning, the drivers that came on the CD (81.89A) did not work with my setup (artifacts all over the place in Windows), I had to go up to 84.21 that I downloaded from nVidia, and it's been RTW paradise ever since.
One more point make sure it is a regular GF 6200 not the TurboCache version. The TC version uses your system ram like an IGP.

Under the Honoured Patronage of Quintus Maximus Adopted by Valus
Bestows Patronage upon NobleNick
The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved.

Re: Graphics Card Recommendation
Thanks for the info. I have been considering getting a new graphics card for some time now and the game i play most is RTW and i would like to play huge units and and other high settings without lag or the risk of a crash. I was thinking about getting one along those lines so i'll check it out (unless a nice bargain attracts me lol)
