Well I seriously wouldn't install it there in the first place!
Check this thread under the download links and installation instructions. There are also many threads on how and where to install to.

Windows can do strange things with the desktop - I think it's possible for the install to get corrupted.
Personally, the only thing I use my deskotp for is for shortcuts - everything else is in folders including downloads and old downloads (which are all in game specific folders so I can find them again).

Windows has a huge problem installing software's like this to the desktop. It must be installed in the hard drives
