    Default [Proposal] Historical Accuracy Mod

Hi I have no clue about modding so the progress of this mod will be slow and steady, my aim is to increase the Historical Accuracy of Stainless Steel in everyway possible. What I can and can't do will be limited by what I can and can't get the hang of, so any help would be much appreciated and would help this reacdh completion much quicker.

At first I won't be making any major gameplay changes but I am going to concenetrate on editing the factions for increased historical accuracy. I will be starting with the factions I know most about as that seems the most logical step and leaving the ones I will need most help researching till last.

This thread is also here to gauge interest in this as a project.

Does anyone want to help either by heling with the modding side of this mod, giving me some pointers, helping with research or just sharing ideas in the forum?

First on the agenda is the Crusader States, any ideas? (because of the order I am doing factions, the more factions change the more I will need help with ideas and research) I will be writing up what I have in mind for the CS in the next couple of days.

you could ask FP to incorparate the historical factions names so you could get a more correct name whether its in english or in the native language, you could also change the heir and king titles eg. instead of prince of france, try dauphin and vice versa for principe for Iberian factions

Change the name of factions to their official contemporary name is always pretty cool. Heilage Romanisch Reich for the Holy Roman Empire for example. And thats mispelled

Ive no idea how to help though. Im a n00b to modding too, I'd end up implimenting Ireland

Or is that just what I'd do if I was at SS mod team level of modding?

Pick a couple area to focus on first. Historical accuracy is pretty broad and can be applied to many different areas in the game. Roster names, place names, person names, building structures, trade resources, historical events, characters etc...

Fair point, the overall aim of the mod is to imrpove historical accuracy across the board. But to start with I am going to concentrate on rosters and names of units, places and the like.

Today I am going to be looking at the rosters of a few factions and doing research on each unit represented, then deciding whether they can stay in but may need to be changed in some way (e.g stats or appearance) or if they need to be removed.

Also allthough historical accuracy is the main aim I don't want to ruin the overall gameplay of Stainless Steel so sometimes something innacurate will probably have to be left in and ignored.

I would actually enjoy more historical characters spawning with an army if some conditions are met. IE- France losing Paris, not peace with England would have France spawn Joan, some of the "great captains" of medieval eras as well might be interesting if certain conditions are met like lose of city and such a faction still exists etc.

Philip II regaining control of France.
Ivan I of Bulgaria could spawn as rebel.
Manuel Komnenos if Seljuks control Caesera in 1170 he could spawn as young aged ERE general.
Alexios Philanthropenos- if Seljuks hold Ankara and Sinope in 1280.
    Nur-ud-din Zengi
    Saladin
    Baibars
Yaqub al-Mansur- could spawn for Moors if lost Cordoba and Murcia.
    Arslan II
    Suleiman
    Edward III
Lazar of Serbia as a rebel if Turks take Sofia, Thessaloniki
    John Hunyadi
    Prokop the Great

    Probably others as well.

Yeah, spawning generals is pretty cool. The Last Kingdom has them, and they work out pretty good.

Could also give them custom traits, like what William Wallace has ?

Im not sure what to do for historical kings and such, but generals can be made the same way William Wallace was

Problem with Kings is that after the first turn of the game, it can go all crazy

But yeah, special spawning generals is always cool, saved my ass in TLK

I used to be against them but with appropriate triggers it seems to work in some other mods I've tried.

The main issue is so few people end up stepping up to mod but there are actually currently a good amount of historical projects- just hope everyone avoids super duplication.
