    Default TE Greek Succesion Campaign

This is the new thread for the greek succesion campaign. I have begun on H/H, and have begun construction of temples and established trade routes. Macedonian-held Corinth was my first target and I sent the Spartans to assault the city.

Spartans and thier allies stand ready for battle.

    Hoplites swarm the gates.

Fierce fighting on the walls. (Notice the archer flying of the wall  )

A clear victory and the city was occupied.

The temple of Zeus has been captured. Boosted Loyalty. Sweet.

I'm not done yet though.

I hope you haven't expanded too much before I start, I like it in the middle game. Late game it's just stacks of armies fighting each other.

Well the victory conditions are 70 provinces including Athens, Pella, Syracuse and some others, so it should take a while.

Sorry guys. To tell the truth I haven't been playing the greeks since I last posted here.

I am playing two camapgins at once (Romans and Greeks) and the Roman campaign is far more interesting. And I personally don't like playing as the Greeks(Boring battles, easy campaign, lots of money, not realisitc) But I will get my turn done today or tomorrow, beacuse my leader already started at 56 years old!

    Leader name: Kleomenes of Sparta
    Reign :312 - 276 BC

Kleomenes was the king of Sparta and the greates general in all of Greece. He had great plans to unite Greece into his leauge. Athens and Rhodes supplied the money and fleets by trading, while Sparta provided the army. Kleomenes was an excellent general who favored the old-style of warfare, hoplites against hoplites in phalanx formation.
The first city to fall was Corinth. Kleomenes commanded the assault himslef and the Macedonians were outmatched. The city was spared of any killinf and enslavement because they were fellow sourthern Greeks.

THe island city of Chalcis was overwhelmed as well.

You can see he greek fleet and Athens in the background.

    old-style hoplite warfare

It was over before it even began...

After so many vicotries the Peloponessus and the southern isles were united and wealth flowed through the Aegean. Kleomenes set his sites on the city of Thermon, for it could be used as a base to launch an attack on Macedonian Thessaly. Kleomenes gathered his trusted Spartans and their greek allies and marched towards Thermon. A Macedonian army moved to block the way an the battle begun.

    The Gulf of Corinth below

    The world-conquering Macedonian phalanx..

The Greek line readies their weapons.

The skirmishes begin, and the Macedonian cavalry makes a daring move to attack the lightly defended peltasts and archers.

Kleomenes orders a general charge against the left flank of the Macedonian phalanx. Enemy cavalry wheels around and smashes into the back of the mass of Greek hoplites. The Royal pikeman beat down the large numbers of hoplites by keeping them at a distance.
Meanwhile, more cavalry sweeps into the Archers and Kleomenes rides out to save them. Horribly outnumbered Kleomenes fights to the death like any true Spartan King.

The army routes exceept for the Spartan hoplites who eventually are ordered to withdraw. Kleomenes old tactics failed against the more advanced Phalanx and he paid for it with his life.

Maybe the next his son will be more fortunate...

Ok, I'm done. That last battle really sucked. The next in line won't have that hard of a time though because all of the cities have good garrisons and we are making a nice profit.
