    Default Clash of Civilizations

Do you think that with the current issues in the world that deal with the conflicts between Western Civilization and Islamic civiliztion will erupt into a full-fledged Clash of Civilizations war? Personally I think that something like this is not far away. Although it does seem a little extreme it is a very real possibility. We have many Islamic extremists that are referencing to such a global conflict, and even the leader of Iran has publicly said that they will start such a thing. It seems like it will happen.

Unless the leader of Iran is assassinated, there will probably be a war that the U.S. will not take part in unless it hurts us.

    So yeah, war seems inevitable.

Well if he is assassinated then the war will most definatly start, who else would their people suspect if he is?

Yeah, I suppose. It happened in ww1, so it will happen now.
But there will most likely be another war.

A big conflict will occur, whether it be soon or far off, it will occur and it will be long and bad war. Probably World War 3, and I don't doubt that nuclear missles will be involved.

No offense to Muslims but I wish they were as tolerent as they were back when their religion began. Nowadays they are very hostile to other peoples and thier beliefs. That is a fact.

the idea of whole parts and ideologies of the world coming together and clashing is an archaic one and in todays world of information and political correctness I can't see it happening

Am I the only one who believes that there is a constant clash of "civilizations" "cultures" and "nations" since the beginning of time?
Let's ask the real question: Will "Islam" clash with the "West" ?

The premise of this question is that
    a. either Islam and West are entirely homogenous entities or
    b. that the situation will reach a point in the near future where the internal diversity of both cocepts will be minimized, due to an external factor that will make the chances of survival of one of the two critical.

If you believe in the first part of a premise it is obvious that a class of Civilizations is already happening.
If you accept that there is no such condition for the second part to come true, or that this condition has not arose yet, probably a more clear definition on the levels of this clash is needed.

That is a generalization. I am a Muslim and I am not histile to others and their beliefs, or I hope i'm not. Not all Muslims are like that. The only reason why they are in the middle east is due to a lack of knowlege, and this was caused when the European colonists came and set up colonies in those areas and mined most of the natural resources and left a small amount.

The fact is, with more education and help, and not invasions, the Middle East can recover and get back to it's former glory.

It was a generalization, it is pretty obvious that Muslim people (most Mid-East people) have become less tolerant of other religions and are in fact more hostile. And from what I know it would be very hard, nearly impossible to educate and help people in the Mid-East at this point in time. But I do want to see it recover and restore peace. Sorry Adanan.

@ Garb.- I mean more of a war, it is true that they have sort of clashed already, but I am asking if there will be a religious/cultural war sooner or later.

Not all of the people in the middle-east are intolerant. That is like saying all black people are robbers, and all white people surf, etc. This can also be called prejudice if taken the wrong way. The fact of the matter is that all this has to do with education, and the lack of it in the Middle-East. They have grown ignorant from lack of education, and are now intolerant and saying all their problems revolve around white people, mostly americans, but not all of them feel this way.

Right, when they established an Empire by taking over sovereign lands with violent force, like Christian Syria. :original:

And between rational thought and Panic.

yes, but they didn't forcefully convert anyone is what he is saying (at least not at that time) indeed, many of the persecuted Christian sects actually prefered Muslim rule.

anyway, I think (or at least hope) that we have learned our leason from the first two world wars.

Well, it completely depends on the teacher. For instance, one of my former history teachers was a Russian-fanatic, and taught us random things about Lenin, the soviet flag he had in his room, and so on. My current teacher goes on about the Crimean war in the middle of the World War I topic.

With islamic nations? No. With China? Yes. It will be a cold war though, same tactics will be used except THEY will outspend us.

Possibly, unless the Chinese people keep up the transition to a free market economy. Could be that communist hardliners will see that evolution and then create tension, who knows?

Could happen. The United States might stand a chance with prudent alliances and a return to good government. They have to outpace China economically, which will be tough, but not impossible. The US had better start graduating more enginners and BSc s though.

For what it's worth, the U.S. spent SEVEN times more on military than the entire Chinese budget.
