Steam and Launcher question

Hello i've been playing a little bit of Roma Surrectum 2 with the steam fix using the " -mod:play_Rome -show_err -nm" line in launch options which was the recommended fix. But i decided to have a look at the launcher today and realized there were options there i didnt know were there so my questions are:

If the recommended fix is to avoid the launcher then why is there a steam: yes/no option in the launcher.
And when i do try to launch it after setting steam to yes it gives me these errors
"You don't have Roma Surrectum II installed in the correct folder. G:\Rs2 #2"
"Engine: RomeTW.exe, Faction Campaign: -mod:play_rome"
"In total: 'RomeTW.exe -mod:play_rome -show_err -nm -move_cam'"
now my 2nd question would be if i stick to my current steam fix will i miss out on stuff like the post-marian generals and high-res unit models?

Edit: Ive tried turning high-res models on/off in the launcher and using the steam launch options fix but theres no difference so my 2nd question would be, is there any way to use the launcher options like high res models despite using steam? Reason why im asking is because im playing as Rome so i would like to have post-marian generals.

Moved to the correct part of the forum.

Maybe it will be fixed after 2.2 is released? Changing a graphic menu only to change it back again could be seen as a waste of time.

I'll let Paedric answer the questions as they know a lot more about the launcher and Steam than I do.

No one with a little knowledge on using steam with this mod can tell me if i can get post marian generals and high res unit models without using the launcher ? Or if i can use the launcher and the steam version of the game?
