So I like to bring about 7 to 10 cav in each game I play of nappy and well last night I play my first game of nappy for the first time in about two months (was an espadas party) and a passion was re-ignited the passion of just spreading mass fear and confusion into the enemy when they lay there eyes on the immense power of a cav centered army. Well in my two months time of not playing I have somewhat forgot how to position my riders of death the match I played I used them like a starting player all splitting them into to two halves and sending them at two separate units. Well in short it was completely destroyed by squares and a coordinated retreat. But in that time it was great listening on the teamspeak as my enemy started losing his cool thinking the cav onslaught would never end.

In short can I have some tips on how to position cav when to use them. Thanks

p.s. add me if you want to play a few (ESPADAS): Fuzzy

Sending a full on cavalry assault against a player that knows how to use and support his squares is always going to end badly. So what you want to do is send your cavalry in to force the opponent into sqaure formation and then hammer them with your heavy guns until their formation is forced to break and then in their disarray use the cavalry to break them apart. This is in accordance to tactical doctrine which states no cavalry assault should be left unsupported as it will almost always end badly.

Well, there is no perfect tactic. The mass assault can work amazingly but also can go spectacularly wrong. I personally always like to keep a cav reserve so as to follow up an initial assault with 3 or 4 units. Sending in another unit to keep the storm going can wreck an opponent plus its always useful to hold some back for oppotunist strikes against overlooked infantry units.

Cav should be used one unit in at a time or all units attacking different areas as to keep your opponent in squares or engaged for longer. Also if u use them all on different units ur opponents micro better be good or he will definately miss some squares

Yes, don't target one unit with multiple cav units unless you're using shooter cav and you want to gun them down. Extracting mass cav from a square can be a real pain.

Well, I like to send 1-2 cav in after the lines have engaged to force boxes- can turn a line fight really arround. Another tactic is just to charge straight for the enemy´s hammer with a whole bunch of cav followed up with a line push(works usually in those 3v3s on grassy faglands).
You can also put your shootercav right behind your line as a second line(lights substitute) to give supporting fire and to keep your enemy on his toes.
And of course the "I-put-3-shootercav-on your flank"-tactic one sees so often in 1v1s.

In general, I think cav is like a glasshammer to deliver alot of killiness at one certain point for a short time to support the infantry and allow for a breakthrough. The job gets done by the line, though. Not so sure, if bringing 10 cav is such a good idea.

Take 10 cav, and hope you don't face the double line
