Hehheh,I couldn't agree more... you know... being the Tully's and all
In hind sight, why wasn't the Tully house first... lol but I super agree with this rule, as you can imagine...
As for alliances, we can just pm each other...
Best of luck my fellow brosos!

As I don't have enough time to be the game leader in this hotseat, I'm looking for a volunteer who can take up this task. so if anyone is interested, PM me

Also, there are a set of rules I found interesting but difficult to impliment in the game. what do you think about them? http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...t-up-and-Rules

Houses Lannister and Joffery remain onoccupied

To solve the Tully-Lannister dilema, we could set up peace turns meaning that nobody attacks another for say, ten turns

I also kind of want to do away with all starting alliances b/c I don't think it's right to make a faction auto allied with another but I don't think that is possible. The tullys definitely need the starks help and if it was everyman for themselves and I was the starks, I would say tough luck tullys and take the twins and seaguard in the first turn.

I was thinking maybe we play 2v2v2v2. The obvious would be tully/stark vs joffrey/lannister vs renly/tyrell. Martell and arryn would be split with stannis/greyjoy. I know it goes against book lore but was something that might work. The only obvious drawback is you basically know who your enemies are so there would be no point in secret agreements.

I say a good free-for-all, including starting alliances but allowing those to be betrayed. Secret alliances and court drama abound. After all, that is one of the best parts of ASOIaF

Agreed. I can tell already that this is going to make Diplomacy look like child's play.

Exactly.... changing alliances and free for all is in the spirit of the books/story and it makes it most fun!

Oh yeah, I'd like to vote for the idea of jot posting results of battles. Or rather, post whatever results you like; heck make up completely fictional battles and post those results, it makes it interesting and also makes the whole outriders idea an incredibly necessary one. If were all in the dark, ability to gather intelligence (and the price for selling that on) takes on a whole new meaning. So posting the results of battles and sieges, yes, but no screenshots please. The only two people whom should know the exact results are the ones involved.

No, I think that certain factions (Tully/Stark, Tryell/Renly, Lannister/Joffery) should start with this alliance for a certain number of turns (let's say 50) when that 50 turn mark ends, then different alliances, betrayals, and such can occur. However, you can ally with someone in a different team (say Lannisters can ally with Dorne) but not if that faction is at war with there bonded ally.

I agree, forcing us to ally with certian factions will ruin the game. There was an Alliance Game based on Roberts rebellion that failed simply because no one was allowed to deter from the storyline..

"Me? Ruin? I'm not the ruiner, I'm the ruinee! Or is it ruinness? Ruinette?"
"She's ahead of the litter all right. The pick of the litter. The cat's pajamas. Oh wait. Why would Applejack take some poor kitty's pj's? That's not very sporting of her."
"More balloons! No, that's too many balloons. More candy! No, less candy. Ooh! I know! Streamers!"
"Oh my gosh. Hold on to your hooves – I am just about to be brilliant!"

yes, that's right, Dorne couldn't do anything it that game and that ruined it for me.

I agree with free for all, as in everyone is allowed to forge their own alliances.

However is everyone allowed to form alliances with everyone at all times or only when they have a diplomat/princes in the country they wish to form alliances with?

We still need Joffry and the lannisters filled right?

    Dibs on lannisters then!

Edit: whew, had to make sure I got that in before I missed my chance. I may in fact miss the first one anyway as I'm going to be mental busy for the next few days, hope that's not a problem but if it is then ill bow out and let someone else take my place.

Regarding the alliances, I personally think we should be able to form then at will. Publically on this thread or privately through PM. The scope for hard diplomacy is just much better that way I feel.

The war, I think, should be without starting restrictions. House lannister is in an enviable position as regards the tullys to be sure, but it's not an unbearable one, especially with the way I play! Maybe we should simply set a start date in the imminent but not immediate future so people cab form alliances and arrange strategy before it all kicks off?

Oh, and alliances should be able to be formed real time. Ravens, dontchya know.

Oh, by the way, does anyone know how diplomacy works in a hotseat? Say I send a diplomat to the tyrells and offer trade rights, the AI will either accept or reject that offer regardless of what the human assigned to that faction wants, so how do we reflect it?

when you propose to the faction, the diplomacy window closes and after you finish your turn and the tyrells turn comes up, the player will answer you and you will get the results the next turn

Excellent. If that means we're all filled, can we either launch right in, or agree upon a start date and use the intervening time to form alliances?

Unless there are any objections, I'm happy taking on that role? Ideally however, it would be an impartial party whom is not actively playing in the hotseat.

EDIT: Oh, and a kick-off of Friday 28th is perfect for me, so that gets my vote. We can use the intervening time to form alliances and so on.
