    you CAN do this...

hamachi, you can that to get connected to a local area network on the Internet with your buddy. don't worry about your game being another language or pirated either, as long as you guys have the same version it 'should' work. anyways go research about it and see how it goes

yeah, autoresolve is the most fair, as it is unfair to everybody. I always lose the best units in autoresolve.

I can only think of one important rule:
    NO CHEATING!

Also some of you might not know how hotseat works, here is a tutorial i picked up in the Third age subforum, all credits go to Xenoneb and TriforceV:
Instructions (how to play a hotseat campign)
For those who don't know how to play Hotseat campaigns, here are some easy to follow instructions.
    1. Wait your turn -- Just like waiting in line for a ride at an amusement park, everyone needs to wait their turn, be sure to look who's turn is up, but keeping your eyes on the forums, for your kingdom to be called next.

    2. Download your turn -- When your turn is finally up. It's time to play. the person who was before you should have posted his turn in the thread, you need to click the link in the thread and this should automatically download the turn.

    3. Extract the file into Save Folder -- Alright, the next step is too uncompressed the folder, if you have a compressing tool (Winzip, WinRar, 7zip, etc), then it should automatically uncompressed the file when you Open, or double click on the file you saved. If you do not have a Compressor tool I suggest downloading WinZip. In the compressed filed you should see a new file ending with .sav ; this is the save file -- Extract this file into your Save Folder (in the case of Westeros it should be located at C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Westeros\saves.

    4. Play your turn -- Now that the .sav file is successfully located in the Save Folder, you can play your turn. Load up the game like you normally would, (In this case the Westeros Mod). at the Introduction screen, with the options you will want to click on the Load Game --> Load campaign game --> (The save file you downloaded and extracted). If all goes well you should load up the Game. Yay!!, Now have fun, and play your turn. Don't forget to choose a Password, to ensure nobody else access your game.

    5. End Turn -- Don't forget to click the "End Turn" button when your done your turn. Many new people forget to do this simple action of not click End Turn, its essential when your done playing your turn to click End Turn and have the next players Scroll up before you continue. If you forget to do this the game will stall and you will need to load the turn you posted and Press End Turn. Just don't forget

    6. Send and Compress file -- Alright, your almost done!. You played your turn, now you need to send the .sav along. Go to the thread and post a reply.Clicking the "Manage Attachments" on the reply below Additional Options is what you want to do, Then click on one of the "Browse" buttons. Now you need to attach your new .sav file which you should find at your Save folder, do you remember where that was? mine is : (C:\Program Filesx86\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Westeros\saves). Now before you sand the .sav file remember to Compress it. Unfortunately, TWCenter doesn't accept files that aren't compressed due to virus possibilities. That's why its essential to have a compressor tool to extract and compress your file. If you need a Compressor tool please refer to Step 3. Now "Right-Click" on your .sav file that you want to send and find the Compressor tool labeled "add to "(filename).rar" or if using winzip you should go to Label "Send to --> compressed Zip folder". Once this is done, a new compressed file should be created in your save folder. While its possible to compress the folder by simply using explorer, you can also do it through the "Browse" button through clicking the "Manage Attachments". Now that you have compressed the .sav file you want to send into a Zipped or Rared file, you can "Click" that compressed file. Then in the "Manage Attachments" screen click on "Upload", write a normal response and your as good as done.

I believe you can disable the cheat console anyway to prevent cheaters?

You also get a message in vanilla when you lose a settlement to the AI though.

To get the message out to everybody: It actually is possible to fight a person versus person battle in the campaign, but we'd all have to have the same requirements for our computers, most of which are probably not able to field. I have Windows 7, so my game runs quite well.

So this is sadly not possible unless we play a game with all Windows 7.

We could do such a thing? Interesting... maybe we could do another hotseat with this option, just a thought.
Also I think a rule we should do is have battle outcomes be posted in a pic (like how many deployed and such) Best way for this, just so we know what happened. (The scroll that goes into more detail should be posted as well) What do you guys think about that?

EDIT: Actually a better idea then posting it on this thread where everyone could read it, the pics would just be sent to the person you battled

Why would we do that? We should just post it here on the forums for everyone to know. That way we could symbolize ravens flying to all the 7 kingdoms so everyone would know the general results of the battle.

Or even better, we keep it a secret so that no one will know if someone won or lost a great victory or defeat. That would help protect a certain nation from everybody invading it I guess.

True enough, and if we were to just post it (without the pic) we could exaggerate our numbers with no one being none the wiser. Yeah, I like that idea, but I think we should vote on it. I say yes, so that's 2 out of the 10.. 4 more for it to be a rule =)

EDIT: And maybe the other hotseat should have it as well..

I say, let's keep ordinary battles a secret but post a pic when you conquer a castle or city.

I think either player should have the opportunity to post the results - that is, they send out the ravens. But no pics - that way, there can't be proof.

Well, the only reason I said anything is it would be annoying to find that one of your generals suddenly disappeared off the map... I'd like to know who attacked me

I imagine it is annoying when your general stops sending ravens and you have no idea what happened.

Yup totally agree with this. Also hopefully it is possible to disable the control console and is there a way to make it so that each saved game can only be opened once? Can't ppl just redo a turn when something doesn't go the way they wanted it?

For posting battle results I think it would be sufficient to just post winner/loser of the battle along with which region it was in. The # of units involved should be kept between the two battlers b/c it's more realistic. I don't think it is necessary to provide proof when castles are taken. If you have troops in the area you can see the border change or left click in the region. Maybe exceptions for capitals and large cities. If the winner wants to post they won let them and the loser can either refute or lie they lost it. I like this b/c it can create uncertainty on how strong/well positioned a faction is and to find out you have to send outriders/diplomat. Also if other players see it they can announce it or keep info to themselves. Also you can just check the graphs.

For alliances I think there should be open and secret alliances. Open ones are known to all players and you can't break for x amount of turns. Like if there's a stark/arryn alliance I think stannis or greyjoy would like to know before attacking arryn. However if arryn wants to create a false sense of security for the starks and then invade it would make sense that they would have to wait a couple of turns.

Also I think there should be a preliminary round of discussion for alliances before the game starts.

Just a few more thoughts? What will the victory conditions be? Will opening alliances be intact? I think at the very start it should be every faction for themselves but I can foresee some problems with this (mostly with the tullys) Also tying in with victory conditions, as the greyjoys I would definitely turn down kingship and use the extra 5000 dragons to buy stuff.

As for the question of difficulty, I think that if there was a way to make sure that every battle was auto-resolved then hard would be fine. Also is there a way to disable plague and stuff. Also the martells are always hit with floods and earthquakes so maybe reduce these. (I'm not sure if this is common in dorne however)

What difficulty should we play on? very hard is just stupid when it comes to autoresolve! I would vote for either hard or normal.

Houses Lannister and Jof are still unoccupied. Lol everybody hates the bastards

Ok the problem had a really easy solution. THE MOD CREATORS FORGOT TO CREATE THE TEXTURES FOR HOTSEAT!
so all you have to do is:
    1) download and extract the file: http://www.mediafire.com/?nbspi7ooosj3a7g
    2) put all the contents of the textures folder in: westros>data>menu
3)put the westros.cfg file in the main westros folder
    4)enjoy the hotseat!

the only problem here is that the house.... thing which comes at the begining of the turn appears for every single faction so if you are house stark you have to see all 8 faction victory conditions and that kinda sucks so if anyone can disable that let me know
    Let the hotseats begin!

I would like to abandon the default victory conditions, and determine "victory" ourselves.

    Great work ariobarzanes1388!

About posting battle results, let's just say it's up to the player.

    Awesome job ariobarzanes1388, works great.

I think that the lannisters shouldn't be able to attack the first round. Since they are the very 1st faction to go with great starting positions with their huge armies, tully really can't survive. I did a sample hotseat and everytime I simmed, jaime always beats edmure with night attack, and sieges riverrun. Tywin's huge army can do whatever he wants, starks are 2 turns away and tullys can't train any new forces b/c lannisters go first. Maybe that's the challenge of playing tully and this is what happened in the books but I see tullys losing 3 settlements by their 2nd turn and they can't really do anything about it. Just my thoughts and gl whoever plays tullys.
