Re: Help with diplomacy?
if your not the war leader and you peace your foe all other members stay in war (unless you annex), this includes your vassal, personal unions etc.

Re: Help with diplomacy?
Is there anyway around it? Arakan finally make peace with both of them after about two years xD (neither side attack each other too... it just seem overly silly...)

Re: Help with diplomacy?
What Dan says is true. But when you vassalized them they should have been pulled out of the war...

Re: Help with diplomacy?
Ty Dan
for the answer and the welcome. I agree with you Akar, logically when a nation ended a war by making the loser a vassal, other ally nations should declare peace too otherwise it's a declaration of war on the country the vassalized that nation. Honestly I don't know if that's just a game mechanic or that's the way do things back then... such a crazy time when people have to wait months to exchange messages like this one! (not to mention the possibility of the messenger's demise!)

just dont ally until they peace out and you dont have to worry about being dragged into a war.

Re: Help with diplomacy?
Also, if you actually intend to help your allies it is best to declare war yourself with the alliance CB, so you can make your own terms with all belligerent parties. I frickin' hate any war where I'm not the war leader, as the computer is an idiot.

Re: Help with diplomacy?
that might bring you some extra trouble at times such as cascading alliances that the ai didnt call in against your ally (if say your ally is being attacked)

Re: Help with diplomacy?
Magyar: Yeah I hate that too lol, in my second game I played the british and had Danish as my main ally, they were very aggressive declaring war after war and dragging me into it xD, but most of the time I did the work (which I don't mind much since I keep getting army tradition and prestige which was nice and their war usually at nations around them which was pretty far away from me and I wouldn't want any of the land since I'd have to split up my troop to defend it). Until they found their way to the new world and declare war on the natives. The first war in the north america (I think it was against cherokee) they called the war early and got 2k ducat as compensation... I was pissed xD, and then the second war was against the Incas and they got 7k ducat!!! while I did all the work... I was super pissed and from then I learned my lesson, now if an ally call me to war for a war that they started I go after the target I want and then make peace after, screw my ally lol. I sometimes declare separate war like you said, depending on the situation I guess for a reason that Dan said. If an ally call to me for a war they started I usually wait a month before the call expire to make sure which nations has actually joined the war that I need to deal with, declaring a new war with alliance CB can sometimes brought out new enemies that I didn't suspect. (I learned this the hard way when I was playing the british and used an alliance CB on Aragon, their allies came to help BUT one of them also called on their ally France and all of a sudden I was at war with the largest nation in the game at the time lol)
