Default In-battle crash when kwahzeraqewrawr [sic] besieges Constantinople

Hi all, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. Who has a problem on turn 58.

I always experience a crash during the same exact siege battle with the faction whose name starts with "kwah." They are on Jihad, if that is relevant. Many other sieges involving the same units (at least the same units on the defender's (my) side have been attempted on Constantinople.

I have tried all of the fixes suggested in that stickied thread, and also have searched the forums.

The crash appears to occur after a fixed amount of time, and is not influenced by the particular course the battle takes. I.e., if I let them batter down my gates, the crash always happens a few seconds after the gates break open. If I charge out my cavalry so that they never begin to bash down my gates, the crash still happens at roughly the same time (as I judged by the progress of their siege towers and ladders).

This is the first time I've had such a problem. I suppose I could just auto-resolve the battle, but then I lose Constantinople, and I'm sure I could do better if I actually fought it myself.

On a side note, I found that if I save the game right as kwah- is making its turn and then load that savegame, kwah lifts its siege, is teleported to the other side of Constantinople (I say teleported for two reasons: one, I don't see it moving even when I turn on follow AI movement, and two, I don't think kwah could get all the way to the opposite side of Constantinople in one turn because it would get stuck in my brown control zone), and most strangely of all, all of my units are ejected out of Constantinople and put in the place kwah-'s armies were standing before they teleported. Strange, huh?

I am running SS 6.3 with gracul's ai, permanent watchtowers, and the higher level of unrest options, on Windows 7 fully updated on a dual core i5 @ 2.66 ghz, with four gigs of RAM and a Radeon 5650 with a gig of vram. I am running SS through steam.

So I've written a lot, and I don't want to take up too much of your time with my obscure problem which is occurring on a somewhat outdated version of the game. I have two "fixes" for this - the buggy savegame option that makes them drop the siege, and autoresolving, so please don't sweat it if nothing comes easily to mind.

    Thanks for reading.

    EDIT:

Happening again, except this time the battle won't even load. The kwah army that backed off besieged me again, and now the battle won't load at all. In between the two kwah sieges though, I had no trouble (technical or tactical) defeating some other sieging Jihadists.

Have you turned UAC off and are running SS as administrator?

edit: 6.3? It's always advisable to use the latest version.

I have the exact same problem with the siege of Constantinople by the Kwharezmian Empire. (with the SS 6.4). Any help?

    necro'd!

anyways, install the updated version of rbai from the submod section. run ss_setup.exe and tick the 'ctd fix' and then play the battle/seige. Then save. re-run ss_setup.exe and untick the 'ctd fix' and play on.

I have reinstalled ss 6.4 and I managed to play the battle without a ctd. But then, when I play the next siege with the moorish, I face the same problem. Now, I will try this sub - mod and I will inform you.

are you getting crashes even with the ctd fix enabled, read up in the submod thread on how to use it, if so, report it to g5 in that thread so he can take a look with your log.
