RSII "Problem starting up Steam"

Long time lurker and big fan of the forusm, currently frustrated trying to get RSII to run. I'm probably doing something wrong but am not sure. Have searched for solutions on the forums with no joy.

RTW Gold using Steam. I DID follow the install instructions for RSII for Steam, and Steam is running. Windows 7 (64-bit), quad core... other details not provided (pretty sure not hardware anyhow)... am off to a job interview.

Using the RSII launcher (with Steam selected, of course) the cmd.exe box opens up but then I receive a "Problem starting up Steam" error and game does not start. If I attempt to run RSII through Steam (by changing launch options) I again recieve the "Problem starting up Steam" error message and game does not start.

Without using RSII I am able to run RTW and BI through Steam.

I have re-installed RTW and RSII, with no difference to what is happening.

Any ideas?

I've moved this to technical help where it should be. Have you tried the launcher from this thread?

You bluddy ripper! Yes, the launcher posted by Paedric fixed the problem.
I don't recall seeing this step in the install instructions for steam... could be added?

Well it is in the stickied threads. I'll look at steam instructions then. Anyway, solved and closed.
