    Default Attacked by Sparta

I'm playing as Noricum and was busy fighting the Romans when I was jumped by Sparta. They have taken Greece and have mad stacks everywhere. For some reason I have no fog of war.I fought off the 1st army but I'm not sure I can build a big enough army to fight them off.Adeui has taken out the Arverni and have no enemies atm so I'm worried about them too.Sparta's military is almost off the chart on the faction rankings should I just pack it in .

train a lot of ambacti for your line, everything else you train will be easily eaten by Periokoi Hoplites

add light cavalry for charging those pesky spartans in the back

just watch out your economy and play aggresively

Tbh I'm playing as Sparta atm and the only thing we have going for us is our perikoi hoplites (and tbh they arent really that great: its just that Sparta starts out with buildings that give quite a few improvements to infantry): im 240ishBC atm and still use an army of just hoplites (now adding phalanxes) and crappy toxotai archers

Now, if somehow the Macedonians had conquered all of Greece you would be sooooo screwed

The strength in Sparta is in its generals, they will be the deciding factor in the close battles. You dont have access to quality cavalry, so you have to make the best of what you have.

I dont recruit the slave/levy units, i train the heavy cool guys.

btw right now i got a good part of greece, and im getting my money is around 100,000 once it reached 300,000. is that normal ?

I got the African elephants, just one question. Did someone mess up the math and only give them 1 armour.

Yes I do use my generals but still.... would be nice if sparta could recruit hippeis.

Valerius: Yes you can retrain them in Sparta but it costs quite abit. I now have 6 of them (3 spartan hoplites and 3 scutari(sp?)) and I think 6 is the max u can get.

With mercenaries you can partially fill out where your weaknesses lie, and I think that's good enough for Sparta. (Thessalonian Hippeis aren't too bad.)

With the right buildings you'll be able to recruit hippeis eventually elsewhere in Greece. At the start though... my main difficulty in my Spartan game was destroying fleeing enemies. Sometimes my high-stamina hoplites managed to run down enough to cripple the enemy army, but sometimes not. Adding a couple of mercenary Tarentine cavalry helped a lot even when I kept them back behind my lines all battle until my hoplites had won the day and only used them for pursuit.

I just recruited my 1st bunch of mercs.Making money hand over fist comes in handy .Chasing routers was rather annoying especially since some units run at the site of mine.Almost to my second set of elite units too .

Conquering Greece gives you tons of money but as soon as you expand northwards into barbarian territory you will find yourself becoming very poor

Having your treasury reach 300k is fine. As Sparta, once I had coonquered all of the "Greek cities" northwards and across the sea to the east my treasury was at 900kish....

My campaign is stuck at 242BC though and reverting to an earlier save still gives me a CTD so I'm kinda annoyed with the game atm....

Best of luck conquering the rest of Greece though!

About the elephants: No, I don't think so. Do they look armoured to you?
