No, it's enough to make this changes in export_descr_unit.txt, me thinks. Depends on which changes, thought... Could you copy the section you changed into your post?
(unmodded and modded would be very helpful)

What did you change? and what happens when the game does not work, does it crash to desktop.
Also use the "show_err" tag, then you should get an error message which tells you where (at which line in which file) the problem lies...

Show Error: right click on the desktop icon, then in the add "-show_err" at the end of the path without the " and a space befor it.

To change a units weapons you need to edit the units model

He might need to get rid of the javelinman skeleton for the unit in DMB as well. He has completely changed the unit so that it is only a sword unit now.

If you can't get a back up from someone, or no one can spot the errors, copy the stats from similar units and start from there. as for the max weapon swap did you connect the sword in the schematic view (just checking it's easy to overlook) .

There are errors in the ownership lines of about half of those, spaces where there shouldn't be, and missing underscores. You really need to back up your files before you edit.

for some strange reason there isnt any spaces in senate on my export_descr_unit file and i put an underscore in romans_brutii and i deletd frighten_foot from hastati infantry because i wasnt sure if that worked aswell and it still crashes to desktop
So are you saying you changed half a dozen units without checking to see if they would work and without backing up, then started getting CTD's? If so then you should probably just treat this as a learning experience and start over. There are reasons for doing modding incrementally and methodically. If you get a CTD without a show error message, then you should undo the last thing you did, then retest, and repeat until things work again. If you change 100 entries, then get a crash when you test it, you have a lot more work to do finding the source of the CTD than if you change 1 entry or 10 entries then test.
If your copy and pastes are showing extra spaces then something might be wrong with the way you are saving/editing the files (might be the configuration or diplay of your text editor or some inadverdent tabs/etc. If you don't think the spaces are there you should delete that part of the entry and retype it to be certain.

Frighten foot does work – i used it recently for the germans as they were apparently invinsible. In fact i used frighten mounted as well.
I created a text file with all the attributes like trained, highly_trained etc, cut n pasting is far better than writing text, as the spelling is always the original.![]()

if i lower the last number on formation line does that mean that each formation will be closer when grouped ie-:shield wall....because i changed a schiltrom unit to use shield wall but they dont group like i want...spaces between each unit
