Family tree: daughter with husbands surname

Hi all,

Question regarding family tree's... is it possible in descr_strart to setup a family tree where a daughter is married to someone and then gets the surname of the husband (rather than the father)... because i've tried a heap of combo's and can't seem to get it to work.

Here's a code example...

character	Henry Cracker, named character, male, leader, age 58, x 11, y 122

This works, i.e. it runs fine... however Tillote has the surname Cracker. Seeing as she married Charles Lambert I would like to change her surname to Lambert... but it doesn't seem possible... I believe this is because Tillote always inherits the Cracker surname.

Am I correct that's it not possible?

try this changes:

Daughters must have their farther's surname in order to be in the initial family tree and be married to their husband.

Hmmm did you mean "must have their husbands surname" or "must have their fathers surname".

Because this seems to work ok, and in this case neither Kyrstyan nor Tillote have their husbands surname:

Seems that for a daughter, they always inherit their fathers surname, and if they are married you can't change it because the system expects the character to have their fathers surname

I've had a look at vanilla and a few mods and can't find any examples that prove otherwise unfortunately.

Father's surname, not husbands. A typo on my part that I've now corrected.

The above will work. Daughters don't inherit their fathers name automatically, so if you don't include one they just won't have a name. If you want a daughter to be married at the start of a campaign they must explicitly be given their fathers name.

Yep seems simplest to just put the surnames in as that works. Bummer they can't have their husbands surnames though as that is what happens in game when they get married (their surname changes to the husbands).
