I have a dream, i would like to play multiplayer.

I have this dream, i don't think its too unreasonable, the dream is to be able to play, rtw multiplayer, but of course i can't because the stupid patch won't work.


So, this is how it goes, i intalled rtw, recently, and i realised i had to get the patches etc.

So i download patch v1.3, so the installer comes up and prompts me to install and press next(which is all you can really do anyways)> in which this message comes up:

'No prior installation of Rome:Total war was found. This installation will now terminate'

MMmmm i say wierd one, must be a registry problem, cause the game IS THERE.

So i come to this forum and others and learn how uninstall the game and clear the registry and all the other files, rename installer files etc... and then reinstall the program again... but ive done this half a dozen times and every time its the same ****ing message.

'No prior installation of Rome:Total war was found. This installation will now terminate'

so i downloaded about 7 different v.1.3's off different websites in the hope they might have a different installer setup, but they didnt.(and they all had the exact same problem)

So after a few cups of coffee and a think i had a brainwave why not downloaded v1.2, hoping that might help and yes it installed, and gave me some hope because i could log onto multiplayer now, but i couldent play any games cause v.1.2 is too old isnt it, so i am so close!!!

and i tried then installing v.1.3 again after installing v.1.2 and it didnt work...

At this point i was about to give up then i read that babarian invasion is an update, so i thought this was terriffic, so i got babarian invasion...AND IT GIVES ME THE SAME MESSAGE!!!!

i spent all that money on babarian invasion for nothing!

It has been so frustrating i am thinking of doing away with rtw altogether, its scarred me for life, and ill go back to battlefield vietnam.

maybe you guys can help me.

Why don't you uninstall RTW first (save your replays and saves, just copy the two folders from your RTW-folder).
Restart computer.
And install RTW 1.0 again.
Restart computer
patch 1.2
Restart computer
patch 1.3
Restart computer
Barbarian invasion.

doesn't BI update RTW to 1.3 while BI itself is called 1.4 ? You need patch 1.5 for RTW or 1.6 for BI

EDIT: oh right, you mean BI won't install either...
