Default HELP! What can a blood transfusion with a cold do to the reciever?

Recently my friend in New Zealand has gotten a blood transfusion but for some stupid reason the hospital did not see that there was a cold inside the blood she was going to get. Now she's been sick with the cold inside the blood she got and has been coughing up blood, last time was 6 days ago. The amount of blood she coughs is small and she coughs up some 2-3 times a week. She's also vomited most of the food she's tried to eat and actually went for a few days without food, save for drinking water. Now she's a blood type AB and I've heard that ABs can recieve from any other blood type so I don't think blood type is that problem.

I'll also note she's been recently stressed out by college work and family problems which could be causing the rejection of food; from what I've heard too much stress can lead to the body's rejection of food. So the main problem is that I don't know if it's the cold that's making her vomit or is it the stress? Could it be that since this is a cold from another person it has some weird side effect on other people if transfered by blood transfusion IDK. Please help, I'm really worried for her at the moment!

I don't think a gaming forum is the best place to ask something like this.

You better get some professional medical advice.

Uhhh ya, coughing up blood is one of those things you should see a doctor immediately about.

Normally the first thing you do when coughing blood is to seek medical attention. Coughing blood is typically a symptom of severe illness such as chronic bronchitis and pneumonia.

I would say something witty, but your friend is coughing up blood for s sake. Take her to a doctor.

She's going to go to the doctor though unfortunately the hospital she goes to isn't the best, which is why they didn't see the cold in the blood during transfusion. The forums isn't the only place I'm asking around, just trying to see if anyone can have some information for me.

They didn't see the cold in the blood because no hospital in the world checks for colds in blood. Do you have any idea what the costs would be to check every donor for every imaginable disease?

Just go to the doctor and don't trust the internet for anything medicine-related.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

What do you mean with "a cold in the blood", a virus, a bacteria or what, has a doctor diagnosed her ?, I really smell a troll here.
Anyways, if your friend is really coughing up blood then take her to the emergency room right away. NZ is a modern nation with hygiene standards and quality assurance for donor blood, whatever may have caused her condition (sounds like H.Influencae bacteria, but I am not a doctor) cannot have been caused by a blood transfusion.

...Why do you assume I'm a troll when I'm clearly asking for help. And by cold in the blood, there was a cold in the blood as in a cold from someone who donated the blood and when she got it she got that cold. So she's having runny nose, coughing, headache, and what not. She's gone to check with her doctor about this.

Wanna bet it only tests for a very limited array of diseases?

YOu cannot get a cold virus from blood, since it does not work that way. All they check for is if your haemoglobin count is high enough and for sexual transmitted diseases. If you give blood and they you come down with a fever or something like that, then you should tell the blood collecting agency about it straight away an then they will remove your blood from supply. Also what you are describing is more than a cold.

Dude, there is no way for you to know there was "a cold inside the blood". The transmission of the pathogens that cause the common cold don't even work that way. Coughing blood after any type of medical procedure (if your friend received a blood transfusion then there was something serious going on) is not normal and can mean a vast array of things. Get to competent medical help ASAP. Only with the proper medical chart and the full information and hands on observation can this situation be dealt with.
