Re: Launcher Error
First of all welcome to the forum.
We do recommend that you install RSII (and R:TW) away from the program files folders (program files and program files (x86)). This is because WIndows Vista and 7 treat these as 'protected' folders and strange things can happen.
I don't see the 'cliffs_debug.tga' and 'corrected_regions.tga' files that I have. These files are not in the folder I use as a base for an install - so the install process must add them. The other differences are caused by the game having not been launched yet (custom, replays saves and temp folders).
I also see that the chat_filter.san file is not present - this is put there by the RSII install process. Have you deleted it?
Usually the error you've shown comes up when you try to use an exe that has not been installed. However, you have the RTW BI exe.
Given that there are files missing (the tga ones I've mentioned) it may simply be a failed install for whatever reason.
I'd suggest installing to a folder other than the program files folders (I created my own as shown in the install instructions (here)) and also turn off UAC off you've not done so already.

Re: Launcher Error
Hey! Thanks for helping, should i reinstall the entire rtw series? Or just the Roma Surrectum Mod 2.0?
I tried to get the missing files from my friend who has this game as well but it still gave me the same message. Would it be wise to delete everything and start from scratch? I feel like i have seriously messed up my game

Re: Launcher Error
My guess is that something is wrong with the underlying install - if the files are missing from there I'm not sure what else could be missing.
We recommend that you have a R:TW install and simply copy that to another folder and install RSII (or any other mod) onto a copy and not the original. The original R:TW install (plus any expansions (BI or Alex)) will not be affected by any mods - so in theory you will never need to reinstall.
So, if the files are missing from your install (and the fact you tried to get them from a friend implies that) then I'm afraid it's time for an uninstall/reinstall. Make sure your R:TW install works OK before you start to copy it for mods. This will also allow you to set up your settings which should not have ot be changed for the mods. The only changes that need to be re-done in the mods is any control keys - the graphic options will be in the copy for you.
In the install intructions we put screens that show what should be in the folders. In the screens I've shown the file types (changed through the folder options) as it means that no file will have two file extensions (file types).....

Re: Launcher Error
Aight thanks! I didn't back up RTW so i just deleted everything and did a grand install of RTW and its expansions. However a new problem has arose, when i launch the RS2 setup, once i click install the thing disappears from my computer and i can no longer see it. Its like the application closed but on my processes its still running and when i re-click the RS2 setup it says another part of the setup is in process, yet nothing is happening.. Any Ideas?

Re: Launcher Error
When you remove R:TW from your PC you need to do more than just delete the folder - mainly as there are entries in the Windows Registry (these would, probably, prevent an install from happening).
Also as you installed to the program files folder there is a good chance that Windows put some files into the 'virtual store' or 'appdata' area. It's a hidden folder so you'll need to change the folder properties.
The folder path will be something like 'c:\Users\"user account"\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War'. You can find the appdata folder by running %appdata% in the 'search programs and files' window on the Windows button (it appears on the bottom left hand corner in the screen you supplied).
Sometimes the PC anti-virus thinks that the setup is trying to run a virus and gets rid of the file. The only good news is that the file is very small and can be downloaded again. You could always take a copy and put it somewhere else before running it.
When the file disappears and it tells you that another part of the setup is in progress - does anything happen? Have you waited for it to run? I seem to recall it may take a while to start - I can't remember.

I think you might be right as the first time installed it, it went like a charm but afterwards everytime i try to install it disappears, ive waited but nothing happens, it doesnt pop back up or anything. The only proof is in the task manager processes but it doesnt do anything.
I found the folder you were talking about but the folder The Creative Assembly and anything else that has to do with R:TW isnt there.

I think i may have found the issue, it wont install in any other place besides program files? Ive created a different folder for it to be installed in like you told me away from program files but it wont install into there, when i let it put the install destination in prog files the install starts

Re: Launcher Error
I had no problem creating and installing games to my own program files folder.
If you can create such a folder but are unable to install anything there it may be that the Windows account you are using does not have update authority (or admin rights) to that folder. As I'm the only one that uses my PC my default Windows account has admin rights.
When you get the install window for R:TW it should allow you to select the location for the install. It will have a default location (either the 'c:\program files' or 'c:\program files (x86)' folders - the second one if you have a 64 bit operating system) but that needs to be changed.
