At the evening of the party Villa vas illuminated by various lighs from the pyre top of the main house to lanterns by the door. There were slaves to help at the door for arriving guests. Everyone was greeted by the most important members of the family of Quintilii, head of the family Marcus Quintilius Rufus, his brother Marcus Quintilius Avitus, elder of the family Numidus Quintilius Avitus and his wife who organised the party Quintilia Horatia. Everyone from senatorial class was invited including few of the familys own friends.
As gustatio there was served sardines, oysters, eggs and various cheese, bread and other small pastries.
The prima mensa cosisted of cooked birds, unborn pig fetus, elephant meat , bowl of honey that was meant for dipping, various meats including sausages both homemade and bought from around the republic and most impressive was fountain shaped vase of Garum and fish rigt next to them.
As for secunda mensa there was everything from fruits and cheeses to pastries resembling a miniature animals which were made by the best designers of the city.
And ofcourse there were lots of wine served around the meals from every corner of the Republic and beyond. For some who liked there was option to add hot water into it.
The setting was nothing less than a luxurious set of custom made pottery, glasses and goblets that you could not find from Rome and beatifully dressed slaves handing the food from silver platters. The meat was served from a very old Greek altar which was appointed for their god of hunting Artemis.
There were finest of the musicans playing from the city and between the meals there were dancing groups making small plays portraiting Roman history of war and victory.
Every facility of the Villa was in the use of the guest at the whole of the party.
