Of the gens Sulpicia, Pansa was born in Latium in 94 BC and has witnessed the republic rise in grandeur and descend into anarchy. Although his name would suggest patrician connections, his line of the family is actually more plebian and impoverished from poor ventures. As such, he has striven to gain minor magistracies and advance the cause of him and his clientela, despite the odds.
