Battle of Grenada

Northern Battle -

Weather Roll - 48
The weather is an average day with slight rain. Nothing to bad to make arrows harder to aim or to slow down infantry. Just a minor annoyance..

Terrain Roll - 99
The Moors walked into a natural fortress surrounded by the enemy..They couldn't of picked any worse place to be..It is the Battle of Tours all over again.

First Role -
45 - Nabuids
76 - Moors
The Moors see the large fortress in front of them. It is heavily guarded by a Christian army. Lucky the Moors sent off a scouting force to help them.. Emir Abidjan tells his catapults to fire at the hill and his horse archers to move up and pick of the enemy archers. The Iberian forces under Selene are caught off surprise and are hit hard for the first part of the attack. However, the light cavalry are able to drive off the horse archers..but the catapults need to be stopped.

Moors - 65
The Moors seeing their men being picked off by the enemy archers have to move up since their catapults would be eventually out gunned. The Nabudis soldiers fire countless arrows upon the Muslims slaying them down due to their little or no armor. The hill made it hard for the men to run up, and once they reached the pike walls, they were too tired to fight, and thus were cut down. The swords men behind rushed behind the pikes attacking in melee. However, the Moors were able to pull back behind their spear wall and some of them were killed.

Nabudis: 86
Moors: 18
Emir Abidjan sees that Selene has the hill, but not the numbers; so he sends in his militia to envelop Selene. Selene tells the Grandmaster Hughes de Paynes of the Templars to crush them. He charges into the moors. The militia were cut down quickly and they began to rout as the Templars killed thousands of peasents. Abidjan and his elite body guard stay so the rest of his army can retreat to Grenada itself. His army somewhat survives, but not Abidjan himself..

Flat terrain for the most part with some rolling hills. No advantages for really either side.

Weather Roll -87
It is a bright sunny day. Nothing to really say about it. It be a perfect day if no one had to die..

First Roll
Nabudis - 81
Moors - 90

The armies do little fighting due to fear of them making the wrong move. Small skirmishing happens. Artillery is also fired, but none hit each other. Emir Mo-ham gets very angry that the Nabudis army stands still like cowards..

Zenaga Cav and Jinetes go out to harass the archers. Emir Mo-ham aggressively sends out his all his light cavalry, javelin cavalry, and some of his camel archers to chase them down. The attack was a bad mistake, the Emir soon realizes this when his forces get to close to the enemy and get stuck on their spear wall. Every single one of them is killed...

No..no this could not be happening the young emir thought. He basically lost his whole light cavalry force..In frustration and wanting for revenge, the Moor sends his whole army in a full out charge towards Nabudis. Crystal's army stood still, but they still took a blow due to the sheer numbers of the Moors. Mo-had, seeing his army being sliced through like butter, flees from the field with his elite guard. A lot of Moors are sleign as they try to flee.

Mo-Had comes to Grenada being followed by the rest of the army that survived the battles today..He goes to talk to the Sultan.

Sultan Mohammed the 3rd

Mo-had..where is the rest of my army..And where is the head of the queen...
Umm, my sultan..uh..we..eh it is hard to explain..oh great one.
Spit it out now, Mo-had! Before I have you stoned!
Nabudis was able to defeat both me and Abidjan today..Abidjan is dead, but a lot his army has survived to fight the infidels another day!
And why aren't you dead like Abidjan? He died like a hero. If you don't win, don't come back to this chamber and expect warmth, you coward!

Before Mo-had has time to speak, the sultan slaps the Emir and kicks him till he is bleeding and screaming for forgiveness. The Sultan stops to let him speak.

I am sorry my sultan..I truly am, how shall I repay you?

The Sultan says nothing except gives the Emir a sheathed sword. He walks away..With one quick blow, the Emir stabs himself in the stomach and he dies in a painful, slow death.. Another Emir and helper comes into the room.

Helper, clean up this mess. I want this man's body to be displayed outside so all of Granada knows what a traitor of faith is. And greetings, Emir Suleiman of Fez, I have a mission for you. Go back to Morroco and gather an army of 25,000 soldiers. Come back to this city and I will obliterate Nabudis myself. If you want anything done right, do it yourself I guess..

Yes, my glorious Sultan, it will be done at once.

My majesty, we have won both battles, but you must know that the Moors will be preparing for a siege on Granada..It will be a tough battle..

Miraz and the Lord Commanders stand behind the Halberdiers of Valencia as Crystal rides forward to meet with them.

"Your plan worked perfectly. The Moslem filth are running to Grenada."
"Of course it did. Now the matter is to see if my sister succeeded as well..time is of the esscence. March to Grenada."

The order is relayed throughout the army, and after burying their dead and tending to the wounded, the Southern Army moves out..

" I never expected this campaign to be easy, Master Templar. Many lives will be lost..but I will ensure the will of god is done by liberating these people and to end the Moslem threat to Nabudis. I now will presume the Moors will call for aid from other Berber states."

"Now we shall march towards Grenada to reform with my sister's army. Hopefully we can end this before more Moors march against us..but well fought today, all of you..."

The Grandmaster bites his tongue..he doesn't want to upset Selene. She isn't seeing the point, too many deaths will upset the people..

Muslims are smarter then you think. They are both good at defending and attacking situations..In the Levant, their castles were much more advanced then ours until we taught the rest of Europe their techniques. However, they aren't the best at actual battles inside them due to their little elite infantry..However, if we get caught in an ambush we will be slaughtered and must return to our old ways of fighting them in Iberia..We should march on Granada at once before they get too many reinforcements.

In my opinion, you should not march into Africa til the Pope calls for help..we will lose easily in that terrain.

"I agree..Africa is out of reach for now..even then it will be extremely difficult to combat them there, where they have mastery of the terrain and the heat of the desert will make any soldier that is armored harder tire faster and be weaker..

But yes..take Grenada now and then prepare to repel a counterattack..that is probably the wisest decision."

This is an absolutly fantastic way of rolling. Bravo cookie. I would ask you to roll our battle but you are in it so Dark Storm I ask you to do it in this fashion. I will also use this way of battle.
