    Default The Proconsulate of Graecia et Asia

    Graecia et Asia

    The Greek Peninsula was once home to many free, warring city states. Now as a consolidated Roman Province the Greeks have once again been liberated from the duties constant warfare places upon populations. The Greeks have begun to prosper, relinquishing their ideas of independence in the face of overwhelming Roman force. In spite of this, more rebellious elements of Greek heritage maintain island strongholds to the south and a firm foothold on Asia Minor.

    This ancient center of culture and tradition has had a bizarre relationship with her Roman conquerors. While the Greeks are not apt at self government, their achievements in medicine and science are world renowned. Under a firm Roman government the Greeks are presented with their best chances at renewed success. This affluent section of the east is the buffer of the east. The Greek cities must not be swayed by the promises of eastern despots, clamoring to play upon the fickle and arrogant nature of the Greeks to overthrow the mantle of Roman rule.

    The Proconsular palace in Athens denotes the special role this city has and continues to play in the governance of the entire peninsula.

    Pansa lands on the beach of Asia Minor and plants a flag.

    "I hereby claim Asia for Rome!"

    As soon as the proconsul heard that Rufus had arrived in Athens he had come down to the docks to meet his ship.

    "Hail Consul Rufus! Let us discuss strategy at the Acropolis."

    Pansa described the current situation in the old Athenian monument;

    "Pontic armies have occupied much of Cilicia and Lycia, but they have not yet advanced on the rest of our Asian provinces. I did not have enough forces to fight them, so I have been waiting for your arrival and reinforcements.

    We should be getting troops from Sicily in 4 months (4 days) and Spain in 8 months (8 days). I am gathering citizens in greece to form Legio VIII Macedonia, and they will be done in 3 months. I suggest you choose a rally point for our armies to unite at, because at the moment they are dispersed with nor real location to march to. And it is up to you to wait for the Spanish reinforcements or not, but they will take too long in my opinion, and Rome wants a victory as soon as possible."

    "Hail Pansa, Pro-Consul of Graecia et Asia" Marcus said.

    "You have done a sound job here, is there any hearings of Pontii crossing over the canal or move through Thrace?"
