A new movie coming out in February next year featuring real-life Navy SEALs performing their mission in a fictitious story.

They claim the movie to be accurate and realistic representation of Navy SEAL operations.

Don't know what you guys think of this one.

So the US navy is totally with letting some of their active duty SEAL operators make a movie for several months? I dunno about that and the movie looks very b.

I too am confused by active duty SEALs supposedly being in it. Perhaps the US military gave them the ok to do it...but it just seems weird. I'm pretty sure active duty SEALs aren't supposed to be know...at all, at least by their names, but here we have a movie where we can see their faces. Movie-wise, it doesn't look too good to me. Looks like a melodramatic action movie. And why use a fictional story? There are plenty of known SEAL operations that could make for a good movie.

Been reading a bit on the movie. Turns out it was originally planned as a Navy SEAL training video that turned into a documentary before being made into a feature film.

According to this article (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...606172306.html), the Navy removed/re-edited footages that might reveal sensitive information (eg. certain entry tactics). Also the names of the "actors" will not be shown in the credits, although their faces will definitely not be blurred out ...

I wish they kept it a pure action movie just completely focusing on a navy seal op rather than bringing in all the family and love elements in it. Would have made it much better.

    The National Security Agency.

You think they don't have certain "arrangements" with companies like Google, Twitter, Facebook, and such?

Dunno.. Here we don't even let our Special Forces be known by names, and its illegal to print pictures with their faces on for the media, the sniper sections gave out a book a few years ago and there was not a single name, date or face shot in the entire thing. We do this to prevent retribution and hate against servicemen. And you would believe, from Navy Seals who are supposed to be one of the frontrunners in the special forces community to have similar arrangements. Aww well, we all know the best will always be the SAS.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
We had a Special Forces "Marinejegerne" (Norwegian SAS) leading a platoon of recruits on one of our exercises as a exchange program, he weren't allowed to tell his fellow soldiers his true name or rank. This also led to general lulz and legend-making when a unsuspecting corporal ordered him to clean the toilet his platoon had been using at one of the outposts. He did not know he was talking to someone who compete and trains with the likes of the SAS and Navy Seals. His platoon went on to win the exercise however.

I was very interested until you said SEALs.

I was hoping they would be actual damn seals. I mean, they do more than the US Navy SEALs, and do more to benefit the Earth.

    Next film.

Well, posting those men's faces on the Big Screen is just inviting trouble, if you ask me.

Why don't the Russians make a Spetznaz movie using real live Spetznaz? Because it's stupid, that's why

Yeah right, a pair of guys on their way out of the community, with the rest of the guys' features obscured by facepaint, goggles, uniforms and helmets, your neighbourhood Al Qaida informer will have plenty of information to pass on to the sleeper cell composed of a high school teacher, a secretary and a hockey mom.

BTW, the coffin scene at least is real. IIRC it was after the Red Wings operation.

How much can you really know about a person from their face? It's stupid to assume Al Qaeda or whoever is gonna watch this movie and automatically know where these guys are from, who their friends and family are etc.
