"Hello there. I've been visting the homes of various Senators over the past few days. I'm trying to find out what they think is best for to Republic in order to better cooperate with them and improve Rome as a whole. Speaking of which, what do you think of the status quo?"

My family descends from a long line of distinct patricians. Not only have we held several consulships, but we led Roman armies to victory against the Spanish tribes and the Greeks. I myself respect Rome's customs and traditions. I do not posses the arrogance, or perhaps the ambitions, of running for the consulate before I have served in other magistracies first, as our customs demand.
The best thing to do for the Republic is to obey custom. I note with disapproval the rise of the populist movement.
Triarius walks in and bows to Severus.
I had heard of a certain Metellus in the city of Rome. My father told me of their wealth and abilities. My name is Triarius Atilius Regulus. A pleasure to meet you.

''Well Severus, I respect a Man's Word the most. I like to consider myself as a noble man. I would like to know if you are a noble man. I hate people who say that they are serving the Republic, but really they are serving themselves.''

Cilo arrives with his invitation
He is welcomed into the dimly lit triclinium where Severus met him formally with a handshake.
Greetings, Cilo, welcome to my home. Won't you please take the seat of honor? More trivial guests will be arriving later, but there is no reason to let them know they are...less welcome than others.
Slave arrives with a scroll. He stops at the gates and gives the invitation to the household slave to bring it to their master
Esteemed senator, you and your family has been invited to dinner at the Villa of Quintilii. We hope that you would dress according to the traditions, but due the recent liberal populist movements we are forced set the dresscode to be free, but not optional. We would gladly see you at our Villa as one of the honor guests as there are several populist supporters we have invited and we do not want us to seem like one of them. As you are one of the most elder and highly thought family it would be an honor to have you as our guest.
We await you to particitipate at the time included in this invite.

Yes, but not before our eggs and onion. I have a fine thing for after the meal, imported from Neapolis. I despise the Greeks, but their progeny make a strong wine, it cannot be denied.
Metellus motioned to his slave who disappeared into the back kitchens
Since my father has finally died, no doubt smitten for his womanly dependence upon alcohol, I will be starting my own political career. I must restore the Caecilii Metelli to their former position of strength and influence that my father managed to destroy. My inheritance alone will hardly cover this year's expenses. I will be running for the quaestorship, a good start I should think, a traditional start.
Finally a platter is brought out, eggs of all sort and fired onions and other vegetables line the plate. Severus serves Cilo a plate and then prepares his own.
Something light and nice before the meats.
I have no choice. My father was a fool and a miscreant. I must restore my family to their former glory and state. The censors are already breathing down my neck as is.

As they will, but most will do so in an inappropriate manner. Those who have no respect for traditions do not deserve to participate in government.
