Help taking down Wallace.

I just took Bruges(Scottish control) and now William Wallace has decided to rebel even though I haven't ecen set foot in Scotland, his army seems almost unstoppable, I can't field its numbers and the most I can delploy right now is a 3/4 stack with 3 cav(2 are generals), 5 archers some spears and heavy infantry, as well as a mangonel also I modded to give the spears shield wall.

abuse his lack of cavalry and also try kill the generals and Wallace himself.

Use a lot of longbowmen and other archers, supported by some spear militia and cav. Archers just cut through those armies.

Also, if you cannot field a full stack, replace those heavy inf with militia, they're gonna do ok if you do it right.

i wouldnt use archers too much since his stacks are heavily made up of those highland heavy infrantry, instead use about 3-4 artillery units per stack along with some heavy calvary

They are helpless against heavy cavalry.

English way: archers strike while mercs and weak infantry keep the scottish busy (also use an assassin).

off-topic: About William Wallace... does he have a twin brother (same name also)?... because he first emerged at turn 16 and now again in turn 62 in my campaign

When I defeated Wallace I remember archers ripping apart Highland nobles and pikemen...

No he shouldn't have a twin. Guess it's a Highlander thing.

Wallace has numbers but only light cav and low armor. The noble archers and the pikes are the most difficult units but the pikes are slow and die to arrow. The noble archers can be distracted and taken out with cavalry. Then rear charges and finding where william is hiding with the infantry.

Make him attack a well defended castle, and hold him at the gates. Your longbowmen will rip his entire army apart, and you have more heavily armored infantry that can hold him at the gate and walls. I usually wipe his army without with only minor casualties doing that.

I'm having problems with this too. I'm at 1255 and I'm too poor to build better ranges and get longbowmen, so the only longbowmen I get are the Welsh mercenary ones, which are few . My armies are exhausted after fighting the Scots for so long. And they get endless stacks. And William Wallace plus another general with a weird name have powerful armies..
