Severus Metellus, now aged 30, has spent the majority of his life as a lawyer in Rome. As an advocate for various political figures, particularly corrupt governors, Severus has developed a rather sordid group of friends. Severus hails from the prestigious yet impoverished patrician family of the Metelli. Mismanagement of financial affairs by his father almost had his branch of the family ejected from the Senatorial class in 65 BCE. Severus now sought to build his family's wealth and prestige back to its former height. He is willing to do this legally but would not be adverse to obtaining easy money through more lucrative and unscrupulous means.
