    Default recruit_pool, why 0.000001?

    Hi all,

    OK there's probably an obvious reason for this that i'm overlooking but I don't quite see it . Can someone tell me the purpose of an entry like this in EDB:

    Code:
    recruit_pool "Spear Militia"  0   0.000001   0.999  0  requires factions { england, scotland, france, hre, denmark, spain, portugal, Normans, }
    This sort of thing (above) tends to appear under the core_building types. Then under the barracks type there is often an appearance like this:

    Code:
    recruit_pool "Spear Militia"  1   0.5   4  0  requires factions { england, scotland, france, hre, denmark, spain, portugal, Normans, }
    These examples are from Vanilla. So while I understand what the various values mean.... I don't get the purpose of the first entry... specifically the 0 0.000001 0.999 0. Having a replenish rate of 0.000001, and cap of 0.999 means it effectively does nothing.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Thanks.

    That's just so you can top the unit up in a settlement where the said unit cant be recruited iirc

    That's right. 0.999 ensures that a full unit (1.0) will never be reached in the recruit pool, meaning that recruitment is not possible but retraining is. i.e. In that example the walls allow retraining even if you don't have the building that recruits them. But at an extremely low replenishment rate.

    It's a useful trick. e.g. Some people give this to AOR units: recruitable only in certain areas of the map but retrainable anywhere.

    Sure, it's to allow freeupkeep to those units without the need for a barracks, that's all
