    Default Funny Psuedoscience

My favourite is "Let's Trim our Hair in Accordance with the Socialist Lifestyle", a propaganda campaign from the North Korean government from a short while ago.
Apparently, if you don't cut your hair, it's growth will deprive your brain of nutrition, leaving you stupid. It conveniently ignores the fact that hair grows continually regardless of it's length, and, apart from the follicles, it is dead, having no nutrition requirements.

You can find some funny things while exploring

Oh man, I would rep you if I could. I just saw a thread not to long ago where some guy was analyzing peoples dreams. I didn't quite give a enough to post about it but it was still irritating nevertheless.

I want to add Creationism to the list here, some of the things they think are too ing hilarious. According to one Creationist article, the Earth could only have a maximum age of 100 years, as is indicated by the half life of an isotope of aluminum. According to another, dragons were the dinosaurs that survived the Great Flood.

I want some info on the first one.

The second one. We do not know exactly what Dinosaurs looked like, plus if an ancient person saw one, they would not call it a Dinosaur, since that word is a modern word, so you can't rule that one out, since we don't know know exactly what Dinosaurs were capable of, since we don't have a live one with us.

I linked it somewhere in my debate with TR, if you want to check that out.

    This?

I wrote an even bolder post a year back. Dream interpretation is controversial. But I'm seriously doubting you can do what scientists and psychology students over the world has failed to do - discredit dream interpretation as pseudoscience. Dreams are as poorly understood as the human brain. Future Filmmaker writes a fine post there tbh.

So. Pseudoscience?... Homeopathy and the evolutionary theory's explanation of how life first came to be. Primordial soup <3 <3 <3.

It's not the use of dreams as psychological facts that which we are laughing at, it's Freudian Analysis and, in my particular case, Freudian theory of Psychosexual Development.

Where'd you find the "Earth is only 100 years old" article?
"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible."

My psychology professor seemed quite supportive of Freud, funny enough. For awhile I've considered him a man who helped lay much of the ground work for modern psychology...but who was mostly wrong.

He did gave Psychological Analysis a huge boost, but it's more or less the same with Robert Boyle and chemistry... the guy was quite off in many aspects but at least Modern Chemists are not supporting his wrong perspectives, on the contrary, with Freud, a whole school was founded on the wrong pillars.

Negative ion or magnetic bracelets/necklaces/instruments of torture always get me. So does the accusations of scientists of being close minded by pseudoscientists who've been called out, as being in science involves having a relatively open mind to think about new concepts without accepting them as true and such.

Yeah, those piss me off too. In effect, they are placebo bracelets.

Creationism. It's funny just saying it.

Anyone here read Bad Science by Ben Goldacre? Basically it's full of this kind of pseudoscience, homeopathy, MMR scares, falsified medicinal claims ect and debunks it all in a very amusing way (albeit with quite an Anglocentric focus). I'd strongly recommend reading it. In fact I'm fairly certain it mentions the afformentioned Dr Werner somewhere....
