m1r4m4x: Do you mean the lookout towers on the strat map? Unfortunately I don't think there is any way to get rid of them onece they have been built.

I think that somwhere i saw that if you fight a battle near such tower you can destroy it on the battlemap with onager or something and after that it wont show on the strategic map. never tested it myself though

Hmm well I tried it in a custom map, but those towers remain indestructible! Damn...I mean what kind of towers (made of wood) remain undamaged after getting hit by a couple of flamming stones?!? Sigh oh well...thanks anyways for the suggestion Kara Koylo.

No problem Maxim, maybe it worked in some older version or on the campaign map, as i said never tried it myself. good thing about those towers is that attract rebels, so you know where they'll pop up

Better start your campaign again m1r4m4x. The only thing that bothers me is when the AI plant one where I would like to put a fort for defense.

No easy way to do it. You can remove them from the other factions, but that requires a manual edit each time you start a campaign.

Forts and towers seem a little like an afterthought to me; like they got added at the last minute. They serve a purpose, but only in the most simplistic possible way. You can't really do a whole lot with them.

If your using HAs i find them extremely usefull. That way you can go out, hammer your enemy with your arrows, and come back and wait in the fort for your turn to end. Then on the next turn i just mop up what i didn't kill on the first.

As Rome I block all passes through the alps with forts once i've killed off the gauls in northern italy.

Put an assassin in each and pick off all the diplomats who cant get through the passes - ha ha

Fix the problem, not the blame!

WHen I play RS, all I do is place forst on certain river passings, since my armies always carry 3 onagers, I got heroic victories all over the northern italy, massilia, africa and greece, 4 legionaries with 3 onagers can lay waste to a whole army of the best , so fun.

I use the forst are river crossing on my side, so that when I attack the enem yis always a bridge battle, pila velites, arrows and stones lay waste to everything int he bridge., I am actually surprise the bridge doesn
    t get destroyed

I like the current version of XGM were those towers are named as Minor Settlements. I think of them as a part of the Empire bulding process, and they make at least the campaign map look better and easier to controll besides the Spies if you rule large regions e.g. in the Iberian Peninsula or Africa.
