This film looks like its gonna be fun. Everyone loves robots, and so robots fighting each other should be a blast (Lets not let this devolve into a transformers thread however).

Its not out where I am yet, but have any American members seen it yet and if so what do you think?

Dude that looks fun as hell. I don't care how bad it is. FUN.

Not everything is Star Trek 2. But movies that aren't good can still be fun. Accept this. Your life will be better.

The fact that people are willing to accept garbage and just eat sandwiches all the time is one of the problems with modern society. Seriously? If its garbage pay for it anyways? That is what we are at now?

Same goes with the software industry and games. CoD and Madden are complete trash but people don't care how much garbage they buy, they will pay for it anyways so the companies don't have to put an effort forward on anything aside from marketing.

I did hear this film wasn't bad though, then against I also heard Transformers 2 wasn't bad at first and made the mistake of seeing that.

I saw it on Friday and liked the fighting a lot. All I could think was "This is the first step towards Gundams." I do wish that the kid had been the one to play Anakin Skywalker in the Phantom Menace. He did a rather good job with the part and Hugh Jackman was more or less doing a badass job of playing himself. The story line borrowed heavily from Rocky and a few other "David vs Goliath" type movies, but its an archetype and its difficult to break from that path once you start down it. Despite a predictable, sub-par plot it was a good movie and I'd recommend you watch it. After all, I only went to see robot death matches so I was satisfied.

What the ? Hugh Jackman in a film about robots boxing? This doesn't make any sense but I guess this is one of those movies I can watch while being hungover and don't feel like thinking at all.

Definitely. This is not a thinking movie, its a "Lets watch robots try to kill each other and drink during the intermissions."

Seriously. Look at that second trailer and try to badmouth this movie again. How does that not seem fun to you? Seriously. The only reason that doesn't look like fun to you would be if you got smacked in the face one too many times by boxing robots.

Contrary to what you may think, I don't have very high expectations of the Star Trek sequel since I don't really think much of the first. In fact, most of the Star Trek movies aren't good. They're saved by the characters. I'm all for "fun" movies. You're talking to a guy who went to see Season of the Witch, Drive Angry, and Conan the Barbarian because I thought they'd be fun. But this movie... You take a story about a down-on-his-luck ex-boxer, and I'm making this guess just from the trailers, who fights the odds to get back to glory but in the process figures out how much love he has for his son...and then set it in the future with robots boxing. WTF?!

The movie may be fun, it may look cool, but let's not get ahead of ourselves and rate it too high.

Sounds like an objective review of the movie. Cliched and corny yet emotional plot with good acting and robot fighting. Got it!

Oh, I'll badmouth it. Robots boxing isn't fun to me.

This movie real ruins the fighting movies genre ... any excuse to cram CGI and 3D is used

Fighting movies are like Rockie Balboa and Never Back Down are mostly character driven and the fight is merely part of the movie, but this smell very bad to me.

If the movie is to be make about robot fighting, then make something like Medabot when the robot is also a character in the plot.

Opinions TWC ? Nobody is going to find me in a cinema watching this.

Medabots just proved that Japan should be nuked again. There were plenty of decent (stressed) shows on Toonami, Medabots was not one of them.

This movie does look crappy, but I only go to the theater to see comedies.

    Also a pass for me.

Down on his luck fighter uses a robot to get back in the the spot light. Everyone is counting him out but his boy has faith in him and together they persevere.

Although me and my better half do like Hugh Jackman but not enough for me to see it.

So.. a movie about rock em sock em robots? What's next? a movie about scrabble?

It just doesnt seem interesting at all to me.. a bunch of wimps affraid to fight themselves, so they let their robots do it for them? is this made for pokemon fans or something?

If such fights where real, the crowd and players would be a bunch of geeks and nothing like how they portray it in this movie..

The players yes, but everyone would want to watch this. However, they would have to put it in a cage instead of just a ring, there's steel parts flying everywhere at high velocity, people would be killed every match if it was just a normal looking boxing ring like it is in the movie.
