    Default Merging Characters/Armies

Ok I have searched this topic relentlessly and there hasn't been any discussions on it recently so this is me hoping that someone has come up with a solution.

Here is the problem : I cannot get 2 armies on the strat-map to merge stacks via script no matter what I try...

    Strategies I have tried

    1. Spawning a character right on top of previous character - (Doesn't work, the spawned character spawns next to the previous character)

    2. Spawning a character next to the previous character and then using "move" - (Doesn't work)

    3. Spawning a character next to the previous character and then using "console_command move_character" - (Doesn't work)

    4. Spawning a character next to the previous character and then using "reposition_character" - (Doesn't work, the two just stack on top of each other)

    5. Spawning a character next to the previous character and then using "engage_armies" on the previous character(same faction) in hopes that they would merge... - (Doesn't work, the two armies just sat in the same spot as before the command and the game was frozen for a few seconds as if the army wanted to fight but could not)

I am also trying things with the "select_ui_element" command but I have never seen/used it before so I am not making any progress with this...

Hopefully some of you scripting guru's have some advice/fixes! But I will not get my hopes up to high

engage_army was clearly an act of desperation. I know that feeling.

I don't know of any way to do it. What I am thinking - though it's probably a dead end - is doing it indirectly along the lines of :
    1. reposition each army next to an empty settlement
    2. move them inside
    3. somehow give the settlement away so the occupants (combined army) are forced to move outside
    4. reposition that combined army back to where they started

Like I said: probably a dead end. What settlement? How is it given away? What if it wasn't empty to begin with? Who owns it? How do you know the location of the return destination?

Using a ship might be another option but you can't script-move armies onto ships right?

Where you've written '(Doesn't work)' it would be good to see info about what you did and what happened.

Updated the OP with some of the info about not working, am not at home so cannot say for certain what happened on some.

    @Withwnar,
Yes it was an act of desperation lol, I even tried typing in "merge_armies" in hopes that the .exe would recognize it somehow

And that seems like alot of coding, but "maybe" it could work, and maybe it won't. But if it did, the use of it would be very limited(and impractical) as merging the armies would move them away from their current position and would need to be scripted back to starting point again. This would cause problems if the armies were sieging or if they were under siege. I think

engage_armies ... the two armies just sat in the same spot as before the command and the game was frozen for a few seconds as if the army wanted to fight but could not
I would have loved to see look on their faces. "Is he serious?"

The settlement idea is not worth pursuing. Just throwing it out there.

Haha for a second I was excited that it actually fired without CTD but alas, I was let down...
