    Default Beta Testing Overlord!

Marcus asked me to take over the beta testing lead, so I will need to sort out first who is actually testing (looks like far fewer than have signed on) and then to organise what and how.

So first off, can anyone who is actively testing please PM me, just let me know that you are testing and I'll get back with what I want to know. I can create basic excel sheets so I can use one to track testing efforts. If you have any idea on what should be tracked feel free to let me know.

    To start with:

    Faction:
number of campaigns for that faction
    number on RTW/BI/Alex
    economic balance
    traits acquired
promotion followed (ie for Roman, Greek factions, Seleucid etc)
    overall "feel"
number of turns per campaign (?)
    problems found

We probably need to get some more active testers too so if anyone knows of someone who would be interested get them to PM me. No real rookies, they need to be able to get going with the testing without asking too many "how do I...?" questions.

    That's all for now.

    Sir! Yes sir!

Would the mighty overlord be so kind as to deign assign someone to test whether the edited preferences editor works?

It's only about checking whether it works, and if the new formations are used.

It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes at worst.

Critics and comments are always welcome.

Tremble at my mighty power underling! (I wonder if I can get a Brian Blessed voiceover for that?)

I can do that, I haven't restarted any campaign since DVK uploaded the last set of save incompatible changes so as my last games are no good, I'll try that before starting a new one. Does this include the roman formations that athenogoras(?) made to custom battles with the arrow etc or not?

Thou art most kind, thy alacrity shalt be rewarded.

    It should include them, yes.

It'd be good to test it to with unconventional unit size too, as i'm not sure how they are going to react.

Greetings oh mighty Overlord! I have answered your summons and await your lordly command.
Thought I might just keep the flow of the threads language.

Right, can we try to adhere to the following:

Each tester uses a single thread for each of their factions. If we get further save-game breaking updates, stick to that thread but put a marker in to indicate the build you are on. Try to remember to add screenshots, especially overall finances, and traits/decorations.

So for example we would have something like this:

    Ybbon - Rome 0-turn
    Ybbon - Dacia 0-turn
    Paedric - Rome 0-turn
    Paedric - Averni 1-turn
    Cartledge - Belgae 1-turn
    Cartledge - Carthage 0-turn

    Thanks.

Oh and in terms of "Overlord" I think I may be like the Wizard of Oz - in reality, not quite so impressive

I have 6 testers including myself and Paedric (are you testing or developing?) - Any more active testers out there, please PM me.

I have AristotlesFolly, JonnieAngel, DeWitt8 and Cartledge who have replied. I know we have had MulattoThrasher, DedlySerious and swhunter at least who have been testing lately. Can you guys and anyone else testing please let me know asap. Even if you are only testing a few hours a week I'd still like to knwo please.

Been busy lately with work, but I plan on testing the Galatians again from scratch when things slow down. Hope things go as planned here with the testing. Things can only get better!

hmm, we're thin on the ground. I can PM the listed testers and ask them if they are doing any testing or planning to. Maybe need to go find some more.

Do you have access to the list of all beta testers, and can you add people?

If there is some way to mass pm everyone on the list, then we might get a few back.
Let's bump the thread in the main forum too.

Tone posted a list of half of them a while back. I don't know how to add people, Marcus said to just let Tone and DVK know and they could get that bit sorted out. I know there is one outstanding request from pkka.

I can bump but I wonder if it is worth targeting a few people who post a lot in the RS forums as they may be more likely to stay interested.

I guess there is no reason not to do a mass pm, maybe say that anyone who hasn't answered within a week gets their access removed. If they have a legitimate reason to not be able to reply then their access can be reinstated later, at least we'll know who is actually testing.
